Also remember, that for all they say about getting someone in touch with the northern working man, they voted for Boris Johnson as leader of the Tory party and their new found beloved northern working men voted for him as well.

The Tories won partially because their manifesto said nothing and therefore left nothing to be attacked. Labour’s manifesto was 120 pages of detail which allowed for ample lines of attack.

The Tories also did well by avoiding any scrutiny of their record by persuading everyone that they had not been running the country for the past nine years.

Broadband does not work outside a small urban bubble and even in that bubble it is considerably worse than most of India and many African countries and just about every European country.

The fabric of the estates may have improved since the 1990s but the lives of those within them has not. Cuts to social services; underemployment and benefits cuts have really taken their toll. Added to which all the decent properties have gone due to right to buy some 60% of which are now private rentals. People’s lives are tough today. And they are being ignored.

If elected leader they will have many other things to attack her on and the public will see a lot more of her. They will like what they see.

That incident was quite a few years ago. Think how many worse things Johnson has done in the past month.

Charlie. You must be pleased with Claudia’s election as MP for a Leicester seat. Rowena Champion, her replacement as chair of Islington’s environment Committee is excellent.

Also worth pointing out that many of those estates have had huge investment and pretty nice with excellent playgrounds, outdoor spaces, etc.

Islington Council has done an amazing job despite a 70% - yes 70% - reduction in funding. There is still huge deprivation on those estates. They need money spent on them. There needs to be more social housing. The money simply is not there.

I don’t know so much about Nandy. She May be good but she hasn’t impressed me in the way that the others have with their charisma. We need photogenic politicians, ones who perform well in the media. This is perhaps sad but also true. Maybe Nandy has it. I just haven’t seen it yet.

I do know her. I was her Election Agent. I have seen her at work. I know how activists from throughout the party and voters warm to her. I have heard her speak on numerous occasions. She is inspirational.

I know her. Maybe my judgment is based upon first hand knowledge and not tabloid slurs.

I suspect that his answer will be “a Tory”! Perhaps he would like that Stewart chap who was thrown out of the Conservatives. Ever so popular and with the common touch.

If you think that Jess Phillips who is being pushed for the leadership by The Times and other right wing papers, will not be vilified by the press in the thankfully unlikely event that she is elected, you will be unpleasantly surprised.

That may be, but I think she’s toxic. Titled, privileged, Islington and those England flag comments.
