Oh it was so cold! Sorry I didn't see you....you're the chap with the blue BJ I once glimpsed on my commute a few months ago, right?
Good memory! No worries. It was pretty damn chilly this morning. I imagine you were too busy thinking something along the lines of "shit it's cooooold....when are these lights going to change??!" Looks like I better leave a lot later to up my spot count!

These are very bright and have a strong clip for bag attachment.
Ye bastard.

I feel Like I know you or I've looked at your trainers before. Do you reside on any hipster forums?
I gotta lot of respect for that build you're doing Ed. She definitely wants a racing bike then? I couldn't get mine to go anywhere near one. I ended up stripping and rebuilding an old Raleigh Caprice. She had to have it in Tiffany Aqua. :( Ohhh.

My lady would love something like that Caprice! Did you get it from fleaBay? And how much did it cost all-in-all? I'm trying to steer her away from Pashleys and the cheaper Gitane look-a-like. She ain't feeling racing bikes unfortunately so it'll have to stay classy and "continental".

for what its worth. I do this wherever possible, precisely to avoid this kind of nasty suprise.
(not that this means it is not the responsibility of the council to sort their roads out).
I try do the same (mainly to save my arse from getting wet) but a lot of the time it's just not possible. Especially when there's a constant stream of traffic right next to you. Plus, you'd come a cropper eventually. Zig-zagging around the millions (OK, hundreds/thousands) of puddles on your trip to wherever you're going just isn't realistic and is going to result in you slipping all over the gaff. My point - no pot holes, fewer problems.
-
Why shouldn't every pot hole be fixed? If it's a danger it shouldn't be there. Why am I paying my council tax then? Hippy posted various URLs above. It's clearly an issue. HTFU does not apply here. MultiGrooves shouldn't be paying out twice (council tax and his fucked up wheel/self).
I don't know how fast MultiGrooves was riding but not even adequate bike lights would have shown what was hiding under that standing water.
It's not the same as a branch falling on the road. You'd see the branch on the road.
A network of tracks/trails is not the same as a road on which you commute to work.

What is this fucking America? First thing anyone says is sue sue sue! This is the attitude that has massively raised insurance premiums and made a lot of small community run activities impossible to run due to massive insurance costs.
Sorry to sound like a cunt but you ran into a pothole on the road whilst riding with in inadequate light, sounds to me like a fair proportion of blame lies with you. You got a smashed up wheel and no serious injuries so you should count yourself lucky. If you'd been seriuosly injured and needed £1000s of medical help then sue the council but if its only a smashed fron wheel then HTFU and take some responsiblity for your actions.Bullshit. And why wasn't the road well lit? Even if it was well lit, standing water on roads hides what's underneath. What are people supposed to do? Avoid puddles altogether? Get a grip.
Blackburn 3.0 and 4.0. The clip I was referring to in my post on the other thread you wrote on is for clipping onto clothes. It may not look like it from the photo on Wiggle but when detached from the bracket the light has a clip for clothing/bags. Loads of rear lights have these.
