Really enjoyed that. Well worth the wait. Woke up this morning with a "did I just dream that?" feeling. I guess this must be a common TNRC side effect.

Great to meet the TNRC regulars and fellow newcomers. Like Marco said - pity there's wasn't more time to chat/drink at the pub. Would have been a nice reward after those miles although crowbar's goodies and diapo's peanuts were a fine substitute. Especially echo Marco's comments about talking and riding. I was feeling preeetty unfit at certain points of the ride so apologies to those who tried to engage in conversation with me during those bits.

Couldn't you move your cleat forwards/backwards so the ball of your foot is in the right place?

It really depends on how much room is available either side of the lane I want to be in. If someone's turning right I usually like to be to the left of them. I was to the right of a cab once whilst they were indicating for a right turn at the lights. I thought he was going to turn right but he did a U-turn right across me. He obviously didn't check his mirror so I guess he really didn't think it was a possibility that someone would be there. Obviously he was wrong in not checking his mirrors but then you can't assume that sort of stuff when it comes to drivers.

Don't rush on the roads, dude. It's not worth it to shave off a few seconds. You may know what your intentions are but others on the road may not. Lights change suddenly. Some drivers think they're on the starting grid when they go amber. Sometimes we get caught out. Just don't rush.

My ol' man currently drives the No.8. He fucking hates it. If he wasn't so squeamish I'd suggest ambulances.

My grandad drove the No.8 for years, before switching to driving ambulances.

I quite like buses. Not had a bad experience with one yet. Like el pollo says - they're in no rush so are pretty relaxed. I'm not very keen on coach drivers though.

I always say "thank you" to the driver when I get off the bus at my destination. Does anyone else ?
