As opposed to the Cliquish and dick-like trashtalk on every other thread in the polo subforum. Which comes from the fact we see each other numerous times a week.
Sorry Mike but there's nothing on the previous page of the thread that hasn't been at the very least equalled previously. And will no doubt be done again in future, not just on forum24 but on the rest of LondonFGSS as well. Cycling has always been a clique sport. I'm not saying it's right, just pointing out that it's nothing new.
As an example, Charco brought up previously in this thread the "No Polo. No Talk" tagline. That's at least as exclusionary as anything put on this thread. How many times has that been used on the polo subforum? We know it as an in joke but anyone looking from the outside would no doubt see it as Clique-ish.
Heh, Em you read me wrong. I was genuinely thanking/congratulating yourself and gabes for creating a filter early on. If people wade through that crap and still turn up at Downham on a sunday then I reckon they have thick skins, def. polo material...

It's true that London polo does need to be a bit more 'social' and not so reclusive (though I like it reclusive, I realize it's a downward spiral to extinction).
Downham can't handle what used to be brick lane on a regular basis. The association is supposed to be putting courts at the top of it's priority at the moment so hopefully in the future there will be a good socializing spot fairly central without neighbors to piss off.Maybe people who are truly interested in seeking out polo's 'social' day will wade through the dick-ish and clique-like trash talk on the first page of this thread. Well done gabes and object, I think you may have successfully created a polo filter!

They are currently trying to organize a game with Zombie on Wednesday, Mark is unavailable Tuesday, and then Bill is on holiday for 9 days from Thursday. So I'm afraid The Beards will need to delay.
I told the old beard to just say a day, court and time. We'll be there.
(though looking at the metoffice it's supposed to clear up tonight and piss it all day/night wednesday.) -
not being a tosser but downham is hardly perfect. Small, not central, no toilet. I'm not saying newt is either, but surely teh more central the better and less likely to have estates round?
Agreed.
Courts are the major objective being put forth in the LHBPA at the moment. Anybody want to join the courts committee? Ray and Iain are heading it up at the moment.

The player tapping out should not interfere with play.
My mallet on the floor was interfering with play.
Thinking about it, there were two other and maybe more reasonable options that could have occurred:
A) Dave could have pushed my mallet out of the way to get the ball allowing all to be clear and the game continue
B) I could have tapped out mallet-less and let Dave alone to fish the ball from around my malletBoth options result in a double penalty of sorts for me in an instance where I was sandwiched between two opponents resulting in a footdown.
In my defense, I was not interfering with play. I was trying to get my mallet out of the way and continue on to tap out.
The 'heat' of the games came from me being slagged off for the above and a second incident that was purely accidental/losing balance/leaning into somebody which was not doing any wrong and all adds onto the annoying drama that's been on-going for well over a year.
I lost my cool. Again. And with the same person as usual.
Regardless, BAD has an amazing passing game and they're all good attackers. As a polo team, they deserve to win more and London would fare well to rise up and make BAD the London on-court average.

;959305']All are welcome to attend. If you're not a paid-up member, a fiver will give you a voice.
That said, anyone with any suggestions for topics of discussion, feel free to post here. This does not mean the topics are guaranteed to be discussed, but it can definitely give us an idea of what players want from an association.
All suggestions will be noted. -

But even in their current sorry state, they need to be booked in advance. Too close to a sports centre, they get well used especially if they resurfaced them.
