The 'Old Git' was commissioned to polo duty, kinda put out to pasture...
I may try to weld it back together but only as a diy project and to still use it for polo.My decision not to repair it earlier is due to the fact it's just a Gitane. An entry-level bike like a bianchi pista, would you bother repairing a 15 year old bianchi pista that's already had a hard life?
Like Momentum said, there's alot of memories there. I'm just happy to have a physical reminder!

...
is dead...

That frame and I go back a long way!
I've won a few alleycats on it...

...learned a few tricks on it...

...been hella drunk with it...

...passed out with it...

...raced the velodrome with it...

...earned the moniker 'trampsparadise' with it...

...and I've crashed it...
.I've ridden thousands of miles throughout this city, met most of everybody I know now, had thousands of laughs, hundreds of tears, I've played polo on it and have depended on it with my livlihood.
So long old friend. -

is it just those 8 that you have?
What are you after?Yea, just the 8.
Only stuff I'm after is:Campag seatpost binder bolt
Dura Ace threaded headset
Buggered Campag quill pedals
Shimano cleats for old-style DA clip and strap pedals
Yellow Concor saddle
Cinelli 2A 120mm stem
Campag super record pista 170mm cranks(yea, I know some of that is a bit unreasonable to trade for rims but it is my entire wishlist at the moment...)

or sell it and buy a track bike
Seconded.
If you really got that at a bargain price, I'm sure you could turn a profit and put it towards something purpose built.
I'm not totally against conversions. I just think for the most part they should be crap and that frame is not crap...
On top of that, the rear spacing on the frame is probably too wide for most fixed hubs.

Yea, it's proper dodgy of somebody selling a 'suicide' hub as a real fixed hub. I've met Paul a few times, seems like a decent guy. I don't like hearing stories like this. But it seems like every one of the 'used fixed-gear salesmen' in London has at least one...
If it's any relief, I ride a fixed cog on the freewheel side of my formula hub without a lockring or loctite. It's on my commute bike so I have decent sized gearing and a brake which I use, no skidding. It's yet to unscrew just by resisting to control speed...

I don't get over that way, dunno if I know of anybody that does who could pass them on.
I'll ask around.
