Hey. I am going to go for them and was about to press the button on Friday when in a totally uncharacteristic fit of financial responsibility I decided to pay off a chunk of my credit card instead. I will order them in four weeks when I've been paid again and report back then.
Got some nice new plugins for Logic at the wekend though. UA soft tube compressors. Very nice.

^^ that looks blissful. Jealous.
Katie, yep. There's a dozen different style of surfing wetsuit in varying neoprene thicknesses and finishes. Assuming it's for use in this country most people will have a summer and winter suit. Summer, thinner neoprene or even shorties (short arms and legs) in 3mm are fine in most of the UK.
Surfing suits tend to be thicker than swimming suits for any given water temperature because as well as bursts of intense activity, surfing can involve a lot of sitting about getting cold. They're tougher as well to withstand constant contact with the board/sand/rocks/coral/sharks. Winter suits are often a mixture of thicknesses. My last winter suit was 3mm on the arms and shoulders, 5mm on the body and 4mm of the legs. Pretty hefty.
Tri or open water suits tend to be much thinner and more flexible for periods of extended heat-generating cardio. Plus they're more streamlined and easier to get off in a hurry.
My current botton the range Orca tri wetsuit was about £100 i think. It is very thin and nicely flexible. The rubberised outer covering is really fragile though. You have to be really careful pulling in on and only using the pads of your fingers. If you get fustrated and grab it, it immediately tears.
Did a woefully out of shape 1500m in Brockley last night in it. Felt like a right plum surrounded by shorts and swimsuits whilst overheating in full neoprene. Was glad of the practice though. Made me realise how horribly unprepared for my first olympic tri in 2 weeks I am.

Dooks - Can anyone remind me how to get a file I've imported onto my itunes library to synch to the cloud and then to my tethered iphone? I've done it before but I also recall being stumped by this before... something about... nope. I can't remember how to do it. *googles
Yeah just conned your device to iTunes. Select your device in the sidebar. (If you have upgraded to the new version of iTunes your sidebar is hedde. - you can enable it again under the View Menu>>>Show sidebar.)
Then click on whatever tab you are interested in syncing. i.e. photos/music etc. then click sync.
Thanks man. will look at that again tonight. pretty sure I've tried synching from pretty much every available tab. It works one way i.e. stuff i've downloaded to my phone appears in my itunes library, but stuff that Ive created in, or opened with itunes on the mac doesn't synch to the phone.
In fact. scrap all that, I've asked the wrong question. I don't really want it on the phone, I want it one the cloud along with all of my other music, which I can then access on the phone. That's what's not happening.

My stock answer is:
Phillipe Dubreille in Angel guitars (above Regent Sound on denmark St. You have to ring the bell and be buzzed up). He'll probably fix it on the spot.
Also the brazillian guy, whose name escapes me, in the basement of Rockers over the road. Both will do quick, quality repairs on anything for cash.

I was explaining why we'd killed the hogget as it is a relatively unusual time to slaughter the animal.
And I was just being facetious. I'm only jealous of your rural (and a tad grisly, if you don't mind me saying) idyll. Does the pecking thing happen often? I've never heard of it before.
Meanwhile back in suburban mundania, I knocked up some very pleasant spicy chicken burgers last night. Can't remember where i nicked the idea from but:
Just blitzed for a few secs: chicken (breast but I reckon some thigh in there would improve them exponentially), white breadcrumbs, garlic, light soy, lime juice and zest, a couple of finely chopped red birdseye chillis. I think that was it actually. Opted out of the obvious ginger and lemongrass options in the mix as I thought they'd be too overpowering. Just form into palm sized balls, flatten a bit and fry them off in batches till nicely browned/sticky/crunchy on both sides.
I keep them warm in the oven then just wrap them in individual iceberg lettuce leaves with either a bit of lemon juice and mayonaise or some dipping sauce made from sesame oil/soy/lime juice/rice vinegar/garlic/lemongrass and chilli and eat at with yr hands. Fast becoming a regular feature in our house.

This should go in the "producers" thread but what the hey: I need to replace those shit monitors I bought because they're shit. Any experienc eof the following gratefully received.
Been looking at Genelec 8030A's which is what two of my friends and collaborators use in pro set ups. They both really rate them and I must say they sound fantastic to me as well. I can't really spend £1000 ish right now though. The next size down the 8020As look a bit too wee though and apparently are a bit bass light. Genelecs reluctantly off the list then.
Adam A7x's were high on the list, possibly even top. But they're over £700 a pair and quite big for my small room. Tempted...
Event 20/20 BAS V3s also briefly considered at a much more palateable £500 a pair... but again they're pretty whopping with 8" drivers and 17kg each. Can't help but suspect that like the KRKs they're primarily aimed at impressive low end and high output electronic music styles. Given that I'm producing almost exclusively acoustic music it they didn't seem quite right.
I've landed on the Adam A5x as being the best for my wallet, style of music and room size. Anyone used them?

Nice one, thanks man. Yeah I'm doing okay I think. It's a steep learning curve, mainly in terms of how to acheive pleasantly musical results as opposed to learning specific tasks, most of which are fairly intuitive or at least easily googleable. I still come across little glitches and bugs I'm not quite sure how to avoid though.
The first track here:,

The Last Great Auk is the first thing I've done from start to finish in Logic including mastering. This version was actually mixed by a friend in LP9 using some nice outboard. I still have reservations about the mix and will be giving him notes but overall I'm pretty happy with the sound.
