^^^That's actually not a bad idea generally but I think i need it to be even smaller. Like,fit-in-a-suitcase small.
Was hoping for any real word write up for this sort of shiz: http://uniqueguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/acoustic-travel-guitars-part-1.html

Not taking a mandolin or a friggin' steinberg stick! Guess I should have been clearer. Looking at affordable travel sized acoustic guitars. Cheaper than baby Taylors and less stick-esque than the hideous Martin backpacker. I will continue the research.
^^I used to have a boss EQ pedal, GE7 (or possibly earlier variant) I used to roll off some low end for playing a high register melody on bass during a song's intro. Was very handy.
If Boss make it, you can bet Digitech do one for half the price and Behringer do one in plastic for £15.

Also, a sad abandoned bike in the bike racks at Waterloo. Been there for weeks on the back of the first or second bank in, on the end at ground level.
Purpley frame, covered in electrical tape with a Vans sticker, track ends, wideish porteur bars with no grips, black, possibly carbon fork and funky front rack. Think it has a Sugino Messenger w black cranks. See-thru plastic BMX pedals and velcro straps. Deepish black front rim with a newish looking Gatorskin. Frame and front locked with a Fahg... sadly the rear wasn't locked and has been nicked. Bike's been there in that state since well before Christmas.
Please come and claim it someone, it's too nice to be left to die in the rain, fag smoke and pigeon shit of Waterloo.
Right, this poor thing is still here. Sort of. Both wheels have been nicked now as have the bars and stem. The rack has been broken off and left on the floor. All that remains is the frame itself, the rusty chain and the Sugino Messenger crankset, BMX pedals and straps. This morning I noticed it's got a notice on it saying it's going to be removed on Thursday.
I could really do with the crankset for a cheapo build. What are the morals with this sort of thing? Would I be well out of order to pop down at lunchtime tomorrow with a crank-puller or should I wait until they take it away and pay the release fee? Or should I just let it be taken away to lie unclaimed and eventually scrapped?
Advise me plse LFGSS.

^also awesomely, when I got to work the only place within striking distance that sold pants was a station branch of "back of the Telegraph magazine in real life" aka Fat Face. Rushed in bought horrible, shit branded pants rushed out. Only after shower realised I'd bought XXL which were the size of a marquee. As a result I spent Friday morning with my sweaty crotched running tights on under my suit.

Wanted to to a quick 5k run before pub last night. Ran out of time working late so just went to pub with intention of running the 10k into work today (for the first time).
Four and a half pints of ale, two packets of crisps and half a scotch egg for dinner. Woke up bleary, had some apple juice and a small cup of tea and set off. Was dry retching in the rarified environs of Herne Hill by mile two. A horrible, horrible run and bad idea from start to finish. Finally made it to work, almost an hour late having had to go and buy pants, socks, deodorant, shower gel etc (which I only realised I'd need whilst already on my way).
Been feeling like a GOD all day.

Thanks budday. I've bitten the bullet and have gone back to the start. Rather than a year zero approach I've just bypassed rather than removed all my plugins so I can always pop them back in to see if they are in fact needed. I've kept the three aux reverb sends of room, vocal plate and long vocal plate.
I've grouped and coloured everything into subsections of: bass/percussion/guitars/accordion/banjo/brass/lead vocal(s)/and BVs. As the upright was the last thing to be added have decided to start building from the ground up so I'm starting with percussion and bass then adding instruments one or to at a time to build up a mix.
As a rule I'm binning any individual instances of compression, then revisiting the EQ settings. I've gotten much more adept at handling the channel EQ since I did these mixes which is helping. I'm only adding back compression if it's essential to manage levels and make something sit better in the mix... or in the case of the lead vocal as an effect in that i'm using it with a low ratio and the gain cranked for a "gritalizer" effect. So far I've managed to remove compression from everything but bass, banjo and lead vocals.
Allowing the guitars and accordion to breathe a bit more seems to have brought the track back to life a bit. I've reset the compression on the banjo so it's more like a limiter with a much higher threshold (just below 0db) and a super fast attack, release and ratio setting. The idea being that it leaves the signal alone to ebb and flow as much as possible but leaps into action whenever a rogue twang threatens to spike the vu meter into nasty digital overs. Banjo is hard instrument to record like that...
Getting there. I'm having an enforced break because faulty monitor is faulty. Good idea to reset ears anyway.

Meanwhile back at Lewisham Heights: made the biggest tray of soothing cheesy gooey crunchy brocolli pasta bake last night. Not normally a fan of pasta bakes but just had a hankeing for something soothing, stodgy and comforting.
Par-boiled for a couple of mins a big bag of posh big pasta shells (forget the proper name) and set aside while I made a large pan of white sauce (butter, flour, milk, garlic and bay leaf) with about half a block of Tickler strong cheddar in for the cheese sauce. Blanched a whole head of broccoli cut into florets for about a minute, tucked that into the pasta and poured over the cheese sauce. Broke off chunks of Dolce Latte and tucked it in, with loads of fresh thyme and freshly crushed black pepper. Grated parmesan and the end of a stale wholegrain loaf over the top for a bit of crunch and whacked it in the oven for 20 mins. Turned it up for the last 5 to crisp up on top. Don't mean to brag but it was one of those meals where the totally mundane gets elevated to something approaching sublime.
Leftovers tonight. *droooool

Cheesecake has been made and is chilling in the fridge. Several hours of making wontons. Tuscan bread soup to be made tomorrow. Soup night is on..
Can I just give a shout out to Corny's wonton soup and cheesecake. Both flipping marvellous.
Wasn't so sure about the bread soup though if i'm honest. Good flavours but consistency was a tad unusual.

Had a 'mare with that last tune of mine, the Tom Waits cover I sent to get mastered by a friend. He rang back with endless complaints about the mix. After I'd finished arguing with him about how unhelpful he was being I realised that he did in fact have a couple of valid points. Decided to replace the BVs which were originally done to a different lead vocal. That took till Sunday to get done then I had a gig. Last night I gave myself a night off so it's* still* unfinished. Half tempted to "normalise the desk" and start again with fresh ears.
Still haven't sent off the Adams to get repaired either. Urgh.

SOLD! that's exactly what I need. Cheers bruv.
