Planning my honeymoon next year. We're both teachers so half-term holiday in October being used. As neither of us are the type to enjoy the Maldives, a colder more Scandinavian trip is the order of the day. We both love Iceland, but been there done that. Have to fly from Manchester so looking at Stockholm or Copenhagen, but which...

Hi all,
A few details, will try to measure one, but not a DT teacher, so not really wanting to put the effort in (sorry). They happened to be outside and I thought are they being dumped, so spoke to the DT department who said yes. The new idea re. a donation of £15 each is our business managers and I can assure you that the money will go to the school. I can't vouch for their quality, although they look pretty solid to me. As for the vice, on one table two work, the others are not functioning. Can't say if they can be flat packed, most probably, but they're likely to be old - carbon dating of under table chewing gum required. Lastly, the school site tends to close at 5.30 so pick up would be required before then.
1) Dammit
2) sore throat
3) robin_shepherd (provisional)Will pm you later

Hi
Work in school in W London that has recently replaced its DT workbenches. As a consequence there are about 5 that are going to be thrown. If anyone is interested in a workbench, they are about 5 foot by 3 with 4 vice in each corner. As you can imagine, we'll used but still look functional. Plenty of graffiti to read on work surfaces. Pictures later.

Apologies for the slightly sentimental nature of this thread, but recently came back from a school trip (as a teacher), 4 years ago I'd gone to the same place and when I came back had found out that my grandad had died. My grandad was an absolute hero to me, he served in the Second World War as a bomber pilot - he told me a story about approaching the French coast on his first flight when he saw an explosion of colour, to which he said to his more experienced co-pilot "that's pretty". The reply was "that's flak you cunt"! Later he was best friends with a Berliner separated from his family by the construction of the Berlin Wall. Grandparents are brilliant, only because they often bring balance to the fractious relationship with your own parents. Memories please...

Just to prove this isn't sexist and all about boys and their toys, my sister loved the Six Million Dollar Man... well actually it was the Bionic Woman and I seem to recall a trip to Frimley Park Hospital to remove the Bionic Woman's powder compact which my sister had shoved up her nose... Perhaps she'd mistakenly associated powder, nostrils and super powers?
Love being reminded of Superstriker, and the Airfix aircraft carrier game. Won 5p by successfully landing the plane at a Watchetts Middle School fair, circa 1979!

Now Christmas is coming and toys are on my horizon for my 6 year old. However, they don't (as many things do) seem as good as they once did. For example, the Nerf gun is good fun, but its soft foam dart is poor when compared the lethal fire power of the sekiden gun and it's plastic pellets. Don't get me started on Action Man...,

Have a friend with a flat in Kreuzberg, so end up spending a lot of time in Berlin. Loads of bars, but the favourite (only on the basis it's rubbish) is the Logo Bar; open 24 hours, a palm tree in the middle of it, cheap beer and a dodgy jukebox - Marillion and German soft rock anyone? 10 minutes inside and your smell like the bottom of an ashtray... Always have to go there at least once whilst in Berlin. Have you visited Devils Child shop?

Many many thanks for the info - looks like Stockholm to me. Would love to do a double header, but time constraints would prevent that. Thank you all!
