hill are usually easier to climb with a fixed wheel bicycle, especially when it keep your pedalling in rhythm.
what the hell? rubbish. gears are invented to allow you to maintain your pedalling ryhthm even when you cycle against the forces of gravity. there is no argument that fixed is better for hill climbing. over any longer hill, with a mix of gradients (like most hills) a geared bike will win any day of the week.

flew malaysian airlines. as usual it is pretty annoying travelling with a bike.
the baggage limit is 25kg so when you travel with a bike it takes up nearly all your bag allowance. so i had to carry all my stuff onboard. i hadn't come across this limit before as normally they allow you hand luggage as well.
one loop-hole i found was that - in the case of the airport that i travelled from - you had to take luggage to 'oversized items section' on the walk to this area i managed to put all my stuff back in my bag.

Mike, if you have a rear light, I have a spare exposure Joystick http://www.exposurelights.com/product/000020/joystick/ with bar mount and charger, you can borrow for the dark season. Come on, own the night...
if i say i haven't got a light can i use it?? going to miss this one but will be in for the rest of the season.
