i am thinking about putting the wombolts onto my next fixed build.
[quote]Does it make that much sense to put bmx cranks on a fixie?
They are a whole different level of stiff & heavy compared to your frame, its truly wasted amount of strength & weight. Especially on things like cranks which create rotational mass giving you a slightly more sluggish ride. In addition, most 3pc bmx crank spindles are very wide, as well as the arms being a minimum of 175 usually. Flatland cranks are shorter & narrower but you stoll have the problem of them being designed to run BMX chainrings with a single fixing bolt. This creates a whopping tight spot in your chain which feels awful on fixed. Last of all you will need a BMX Euro BB, for modern cranks with a 22mm spindle, these bottombrackets need ultra thin bearings and are very expensive. For the same price of the whole setup you could get some the best modern track specific cranks
It makes no sense what so ever. You are right, i am sorry for having such thoughts

i would swear by these cranks until i got my hands on wombolts.

I have my eyes on a steel fort lo pro, hopefully it will be mine. Add a Profile rear to deep v. Gsport Marmoset to open pro.
Elementary stem up front.
Odyssey twisted with power gripsOr if i can get one of the next batch of fbm frames i might go for that instead.
Somethign nice about having a mid bb and intergrated headset. -

A/Grinding would be pretty unsightly, but would be the cheaper way.
To find somewhere that would heat the brazing and take the mount off would probably cost a fair bit. upwards of £50. Bikefix would be the place to do it unless you know anyone else with the kit.The next option is to get a new set of forks. no need to spend anymore than £20 for some s/h ones.

Well as some of you may know, Mary had a run in with a van the other day, so her beloved old dawes has now reached the end of its life. Nice bends and cracks around the top/down/headtube junction. Thinking it may be the right time to upgrade to a track frame rather than a conversion.
So does anyone have a 48cm track frame to suit a lady.
Nothing too pricey though
Cheers

Ok ...
I have access to 3 possibly 4 truing stands, if we can get more then that would be great. Or just do two to a stand.
I have a handful of spoke keys, but more would be good.As for spokes.. if you can workout the sizes you need i can make an order. Try and get the lengths to me by the middle of next week so that i can make sure they are here in time. DT double butteds i could probs do for 40p each.
Bike fix will have some goldtecs in soon, not sure if thy will arrive before the dates though, ill check with trev.
