Mike Burrows has a book - Bicycle Design.

Covers all types of bicycles and the design and engineering of them. From practical and comfort reasons, to science and sport.

A pretty good read.

We have them in bikefix... not that i am trying to plug or anything. Otherwise they are avaliable online.

Apart from that - bicycling science. would recommend as well. Covers everything you would ever need to know or not know. I have flicked through it a bit and i must say that it does tend to over complicate the bike... to a pretty scary extent.

bit confused as to what is going on along shacklewell lane, outside the shacklewell arms.
Having lived here since march, all i have ever seen in that pubby is shady looking gangster types with a stench of weed coming from the back doors....
the past few weeks i have started to see even shadier characters.... hipsters and fixed riders outside.
Last night there was a green bob jackson with aerospoke locked up outside, as well as a conversion and another track bike. Whats going on? What am i missing?

Ok... so Londons fastest female cycle courier, Chandra, is speeding off to a squat in mile end. Leaving one room free in my house.

Rent is £320 per calender month. Then about £40-£50 for bills.
Situated along Shacklewell Lane. Minutes walk from local conveniences, 15min cycle to central london, 5 minutes to shoreditch. perfect situation for everything you can think of.

It is a meat free and non smoking house. You will be living with 4 vegans and 1 veggie. All bought together by a love of all things punk and cycling.
There is a covered smoking area however, seeing as half the house are smokers.

Bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe and plenty of space for a desk or something.
Secure storage for bikes as well as quite a few tools already there. If that isn't enough, my workshop is just down the road, to which you will have 24hour access to if you are nice enough to me to let you have a spare set of keys ;)

You will already know some of the housemates, myself obviously, a vegan bike mechanic that splits time between bikefix and the hub cycles.
Mary, everyones favourite american red headed girl, with a tendancy for haivng biek accidents and getting rediculously drunk pretty quickly.
xSheepx... he is a legend in the hardcore scene, though he is hardly around now as he tour manages for a certain band called bring me the horzion, currently in the states somewhere.

A very social house, often having large get together meals. Some of the best parties of recent times.

Two dogs in the house, which are fun to play with. As well as the occasional rescued animal, for a week or so. We currently have a 7week old pup in the transition from bad home to sanctuary.

Due to Sheep's affiliation with the camden underworld. We often have bands staying over. Every couple of months or so. My favourite so far has been Horse the band. Lovely bunch of guys.
We have a large enough front room to accomodate friends and family who choose to stay, as well as spare mattreses and bedding.

As well as the large front room, we have a large kitchen and dining area. Adding to the socialness of the house. We aren't the type of people that come home from work and go straight to bed.

There is also a backyard, whih was once host to the open toolbox sessions i used to run. You may even get a chance to experience Marys famous vegan breakfast, enjoyed by half the london bike scene.

Steel frame? Alu post?

Melt the post out, heat the steel tube until the post starts dripping out.
Then clean up the inside followed by a fluch through with a reamer.

Will leave scortch marks and burn some of the paint off though.
