Clefty, do you have a 6 months update on how the Xena is fairing? How does it cope with rain, are the batteries still good, any reliability problems? I'm thinking of investing on payday...

can a spanner with one bike and 48x19 (or 18 can't remember) set up have a go on that?

Can anyone recommend a cheap & cheerful hotel within a sensible distance of the centre? I'd like to visit Berlin for 2 or 3 days in March, but will be going on my own, so would rather not do the shared room hostel thing. Circus (mentioned earlier in the thread) don't have any availability...

Oooh, good tip. I was all set to re-use some 700c sks full mudguards (plastic) on my Holdsworth, but I might go for the proper chrome 27" dealies at that price...

I'm in for 5 mins to collect a wheel, would be longer but I'm washing my hair tonight...

Depends on which groupset the seatpost is from - campag did a xenon etc level one as well as record.

I've run both shimano and campag on my road bike before, and the campag shifting suits my small girly hands better.

I probably only met Paul two or three times, but the first was when he bought a stem from me in Feb last year. We arranged to meet at the Rollapaluza League night at the Regent, and I think it was fair to say that Paul had had more than a drink or two by the time I arrived. Getting his cash out of the wallet involved a lengthly and impressive display of swaying about and grinning, but he was so pleased to have the stem and kept thanking me over and over. The next morning he sent me a PM kindly thanking me again, and admitted that he couldn't recall the conversation, but sincerely hoped he hadn't said anything ungentlemanly :D

The last time that I saw Paul was at the track day this summer, when he noticed the new wheels on my Merckx. I was pretty impressed because despite there being 6 months since last meeting him, he remembered my real name (which is different to my old forum name and confused most people) without hesitation and chatted away about wheels like an old friend.

When you say 'New Tetro drop brakes (fitted and removed)', do you mean long drop brake calipers, or just brake levers that go on the drops? Thanks

Interesting bike locked next to mine today, a pink and white mtb with a Tour de Ville sticker on the downtube, makes a nice change from the usual freelocked unipack.

I've got the remains of a giant 'R' still... no amount of washing is a match for permenant marker :)

Front QR, rear QR, brakes, steering and cranks everytime. Shared bike parking at work = nothing to be trusted (have had my brakes disconnected and small parts stolen before).

I've been finding my cyclones a bit too tight/unbending to use with liners underneath, so in the spirit of 'making do' have resorted to using this combo (decathlon liner + primark leather gloves with fleecy cotton lining). Toasty warm, and total cost £10.
