It's not too bad. A tad high I'm led to believe. It seems to suit me though on the flat and the hills I do come across only need me to 'get up' occaisionally! With a head wind I'm working hard. And don't even ask about hill starts, I hate having to work back up on a hill, but it doesn't kill you. I've been riding around at this ratio for about 6 months now, its why I wanted to switch, I just don't use the gears.

For Flip
Got it off though the rotalok method is tricky and you risk damaging your rims cause you have to do it out of the frame! Make sure you have good spacers without any bobbly bits on. This caused me a hold up. Took about 2 hours in all. You'll need a cassette removal tool, adjustable spanner, preferably a chain whip or try Tommy's method but attach to the frame not the rim. Oh, and a couple of small spanners and allen keys for removing the old dérailleur.
Good luck

Can anyone help. I'm in the process of saving for a new rear wheel - the ones on ebay seem to go for silly money when you compare the price of new. I'm looking to strip the gears of the cassette hub that I'm currently using and using it as single speed (freehub not suicide). Does anyone have any experience as to the lock rings? On a Shimano style hub it is the last cog - is this correct? Can you buy a lock ring instead of using the last cog? I've got a load of spacers from old cassettes so the chain line shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just want to get the ruddy dérailleur off the back! Any useful advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think the problem with the site is that cyclists have discovered the post and have started putting there two pence-worths in. I haven't seen my post either.
Jumping red lights whilst people are legally crossing = stupid
Jumping red lights just before the lights change = sensible
Riding on the pavement at speed = idiotic
Riding on the pavement to get past traffic = the only way to go
Old Grannys with shopping bags = priceless! -
I ride with drops. Have aero levers which are set slightly high so to give the effect of bull horns for comfortable riding with the option of switching to the drop when needed. Also keeps the brakes close for around town riding.
Object 17, good luck with the knee. I work in the orthopaedic industry and know that with work the knee can last a lot longer than surgeons say. One thing to look at is your seat position relative to your bb. Setting slightly further back should help relieve the stress on the knees. Just a thought.

scott dun got broked
wolflore
asm You found your budgie abandoned in the street? Does it always live on your head or does it have a cage?
The budgie was found in the street as it happens. It does have a cage usually but for this pic I stapled it to my head - won't catch me wearing one of those dodgy Alice band things! ;-)
On the subject of budgies...i was woken up by loud chirping of budgies or parakeets whilst sleeping at my mates at the weekend....it went on for a couple of minutes, and i assumed his neighbour must have them as pets.
The next morning i ask my mate if his neighbour has birds as pets....he says...his neighbours husband used to have an aviery full of them...but when he died, his wife 'got rid' of all the birds and now it was just an empty aviery....
SPOOKY!!!
Spirits of the budgies?
Ring necked Parakeets? Lots of them now in and around London. They sounds a bit budgie like!

Here's a pic of me and my bird. Haven't put a picture of my bike up yet for two reasons. 1) It's not yet fixed and 2) Its a Peugeot!
What can I say - i found it abandoned in the street and gave it a new home - ok so I'm an idiot! Say hello if you see me about - in the Twickenham/Richmond areaAnthony

Don't know what it is about fixies. First you barely see one, then its loads. Blue 'On One' outside Waitrose in Twickenham, Sunday afternoon about 3. Also a very happy looking bloke on a fixie cycling past Pizza Express, Sunday, about half 1. I'd been sat in there with my girlfriend commenting on the Sunday cyclists and thier vast array of unnecessary gear when this bloke rides past looking very pleased with himself - not weraing lycra - when I noticed it was a fixie. My Pug still still isn't fixed!

Saw a nice ss outside Waitrose in Twickenham today. White mainly with black front and rear. Quite a new bike by the looks of the bits. Certainly newer than my old Pug - which is yet to be converted! I've just come round to the idea cause I never change bloody gear anyway! Hello! Didn't think to see what make/model it was.

Try Zara, they have a mens section which I found out when I was in Spain. If you're going to Spain then get the stuff there it's much cheaper. I got a nice hoodie, long in the sleeve and back. Think it was about £20.
