Yeah all my cycling buddies were " that could have been me " 'cos so random and just bad luck to fall so awkwardly and break so many bits of me . Need some of the Oxford forum crew to pick me up , bungee me to a tandem and take me to a pub or am gonna go out of my mind......already bought a new helmet even tho in plaster for next 5 weeks !

Not my bag , just purely by chance it blew from somewhere , and normally road I was riding on would have been choked with traffic and I would have been threading past cars really slowly .

Cheers , feeling very low at moment as suns out properly for first time and cant ride , or hold a pint glass or do much else for the next 5 weeks ...

Had a similarly windy oh shit moment to above two weeks ago , and only now am I in a position to type . Ridin' to work on my Langster when a huge gust of wind blew a thick " bag for life " style bag into my front wheel when I was out of saddle doing about 25mph . Stopped me instantly and threw me over bars , as I was clipped in bike came with me , dont remember impact but bloke riding behind me said it was like watching me ride into an invisible wall . Upshot was trip in ambulance , totalled my helmet and somehow I managed to dislocate my right shoulder , break my right elbow , break my right wrist and thumb dislocated fingers and broke my left hand and left elbow . Had surgery to pin both hands and am now in casts on both arms so cant do fuck all for myself except poke a keyboard with the one finger thats doesnt hurt . Really pissed off .

Situation has changed for me in so much as had a huge crash yesterday and broke both elbows , right wrist , right thumb and dislocated a bone in my left hand. Having surgery tomoz to pin and screw hands. So wont be riding, but if feeling okay after op may come along to say hello.

For full details of days events google Abingdon freewheeling . 27mile route is very fixie / singlespeed friendly and is running at 9:30 10:45 and 12pm . I am probably gonna do 9:30 as is usually the best mix of people . Will be riding my langster and wearing my lfgss sharkpits jersey so come and say hello , if people are gonna do a later ride ,let me know 'cos can always change my plans .

I was speaking with one of the festival organizers yesterday and told him there may be some fixed gear riders showing up , and am happy to say that the " no skids " rule is being relaxed . As is the rule on no visible tattoos and I assured him that all local taxi drivers would almost certainly be safe . He was horrified when I suggested his view were an obvious stereotype view of fixie riders , but did ask if one of you could deliver a small packet for him .

Is anyone planning on going to Abingdon cycle festival ? Lots going on , 27 , 40 and 50odd mile rides planned . A fast 3 hour ride run by Zappi's , as well as mountain bike rides . Local bike shops trade stalls with demo bikes from Wilier , Merida , Whyte and Raleigh . I am probably gonna do the 27 mile ride so I can get back in time to do .....the CYCLOCROSS event in the afternoon ! Does it get any better than that . Should be a good day again , I rode the 55mile route last year and was very good .
Its on Sunday the 21st of April , give me a shout if anyone about .

Oh , shame . Only got little legs . Mines a 54 . Still if I manage to grow a bit and you find yourself in Oxfordshire give me a shout .

Dammit. , reading through this , my favourite thread on this site , I couldn't find anywhere that said what size frame you have . I only ask as I would love to ride it to see how different yours was to my " cheaper build ” but later frame . As I have said before my Systemsix is the best bike I have ever owned and I have had a few , and still have 5 , but would love to see how you can improve on what in my mind and in my legs , is perfection .

Love this thread . However decided sscx is not for me , so need to sell this to fund upgrades on my SystemSix . Specialized Tricross Single cross , 54cm stock Sugino cranks with a surly 38 tooth ring ,18 tooth on back . ITM carbon wrap bars with Cane Creek scr5 levers and Genetic mini v's. Thomson stem . Is very cool .does not come with seat post and saddle pictured . £375 ish . Cant get these anymore ,which is a shame pm me for details . Sorry if wrong place to post .

Was just a case of being lucky I guess . But then I only paid £200 for my system six frame and that was like new !
