anyone seen any nice plain pretty silver 2 sided spd pedals that don't have SHIMANO written in horrid black paint on them.
I know i could risk my eyesight by getting the caustic soda out and try to get the shimano tag off but i kinda like being able to see etc so was looking for some nice plain pedals...any idea where to look...or if you have some let me know
..need two pairs though

no not really rimming just wanted to get your attention.
I have some lovely high flange phil wood track hubs that I bought myself as a present as i always always wanted some but now i can't decide on rims. I want strong but light (doesn't everyone) and I want them to last (doesn't everyone). Not too overly bothered about aesthetics just want nice good rims.
I have some old CXP30's that I was gonna use but really I want to build the hubs on to nice new rims..DT Swiss?
Anyone got any thought or advice please?
Cheers

Tour de TIF : 80 mile tour of Greater Manchester, Saturday 29th November.
Starting from Swinton Town Hall to Manchester Town Hall via the town halls of: Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton, Stockport, Altrincham, Sale and Trafford. See the route here.
Voting for the #3 billion Transport Innovation Fund starts on 25th November. A yes vote would massively increase the quality and quantity of public transport and opportunities for cyclists. Cleaner, cheaper and more convenient public transport options will take cars off the road and make cycling safer and more enjoyable. Come with us on a ride round the whole of Greater Manchester and dare to dream what it could be like.
The start will be at Swinton Town Hall, (officially called Salford Civic Centre), Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford M27 5AW. The finish, 80 miles later will be at Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square.
There'll be 3 groups to cater for all abilities (within reason) so whether you're a club cyclist, a leisurely tourer or a dawdling commuter there should be a pace to suit. If there isn't then there's a web page here: www.cleanairnow.co.uk, where you can find out the estimated time of arrival at each town hall for each of the 3 groups.
The slowest group will set off at 8.30, the middle group at 9.30 and the fastest group at 10.30. There'll be a broomwagon too to pick up those that can't go on any further and either fix their bikes or drop them off at the next railway station.
There will be a warm place to get changed, wait for your friends, have a cup of tea and sit down at the Friends Meeting House on Mount Street from 2-5pm.
You don't have to cycle the whole route - please join in at the start, along the way or or the final section into Manchester. Ride as much or as little as you want.

suggested donation (for each event) of a pint. It wont really be spent on

will also hopefully be selling on our new website soon.

"I really enjoyed the Ladies Bike Ride. I've never ridden with a group of
other women before and found it really refreshing to be with a group of
women who also really loved riding (none of my female friends have bikes).
I really loved it, and it's made me even more keen to take part in other
regular rides and next year's festival. It's also made me want to improve
my riding more, and my knowledge of bike maintenance, so I can enjoy even
more independence on the roads and trails of Manchester and beyond! Thanks
for organising it all!""the festival has been awesome and hope i can come back next year..."
"When it comes to cycling in Manchester, the folks at I Bike MCR really
have something up their sleeve. Not only are they revolutionizing the way
Mancunians think about transport, but they are rockin' the casbah all the
way to the streets. Once you take part in an event, you realize the heart
and soul that has gone into making this year's festival a uniting and
empowering experience. Get off the bus and on a bike, we have a home for

hello!
CRITICAL MASS
Friday 30th May 6pm
Central Library ManchesterA totally ace bike ride around our city to meet other cyclists and ride
without purpose on our roads for a bit...it's such a nice and sociable and
fun way to spend a Friday evening on a bicycle..wow. so ace. and now we're
getting bigger and bigger..someone said they counted at least 100 people
on the one last month, how ace is that?!!..come and be part of our lovely friendly cruise around..to collectively enjoy the beautiful experience that is riding a bike. We're probably gonna go for a beer at the sandbar afterwards and then some
of us are riding on to stockport to go to the Stockport Beer & Cider
Festival at EDGELEY PARK, Stockport..if you want to join us it would be
ace.People's comments about Manchester Critical Mass
"...it's brilliant. Usually I'm charging around on my bike, getting where i need to go as fast as i can. Critical mass is different. It's about enjoying riding. It's the most relaxed ride around the city I've ever had. Where all my worries and fears float away. And I've met some lovely people too"
"I was scared it would be some angry bike militants but everyone is so friendly and the ride is fun no aggro at all. See you next month!"
"it's quite something to have that many peeps riding round at once."
"Critical Mass sometimes has a reputation for being an angry rabble of cyclists that want to string up any car drivers they see. This is not true of Manchester Critical Mass, it is a fluffy mass of people that like to have fun on bikes, there are often have children with us and a bicycle sound system to add to the party fun atmosphere. As well as being fun and a social event it is also to show how great a car free city will be. This is achieved every month by showing motorists an alternative, yet critical mass Manchester doesn't aim to annoy drivers we want them to join us.."
(taken from emails we've received)

MIDNIGHT RIDE
This month the Midnight Ride will be a total treat. FRIDAY 6TH JUNEWe'll be cycling around 20 miles to an amazing castle then camping out
then riding back the next day (or for those sleepy heads there's a train
station real near that will take about 30 mins to get into mcr)So you will need:
tent/bivvi
sleeping bag
food
water
drink
the OS Landranger map for Manchester ould be very useful
Tools e.g. spare inner tube, spanners, allen keys, tyre levers etc.As usual we'll be meeting up at 10.30 at the sandbar leaving at quarter to
midnightWe will have 2 rides 1 that will go a little faster to set up camp and one
that will ride at a slower pace. We hope that people will join these
groups so that we can cycle and socialise at the same time and also look
out for each other. Please email us with your telephone number if you will be attending, and
let us know if you can't attend (if you have registered on the ride)SUNDAY RIDE
i was thinking that next Sundays ride (sun 25th may) could be to Liverpool
along the tpt (and back?! or the train!) as we didn't go yesterday due to
exams and stuff.Anne Tucker told me it's the Liverpool Streets Ahead Festival from 9am to
5pm so that would be nice:Liverpool will be awash with fantastic street theatre, music, dance,
puppets, both shows and spectacle, featuring leading artists from all over
the world. With shows on every corner, roaming acts along the streets, surprises in
the squares and shop windows, performers hanging 60 feet above your head,
the best of European street arts of the past decade are revealed. Streets
Ahead will be a high energy weekend of delights culminating on Bank
Holiday Monday evening when the festival is handed over to you, the
audience, to ‘play the city’.And we'd ride along the lovely tpt:
we'll follow a winding riverside path near the southern suburbs of
Manchester, passing by Chorlton Water Park Local Nature Reserve. Canal and
railway paths take us through Trafford to Warrington and on to the
tranquil St Helens Canal.Towards Liverpool we'll pass through Halewood Country Park and the village
of Hale - complete with thatched cottages and country pubs - past
Pickering's Pasture Country Park with open views of the dramatic Mersey
Estuary, dedicated as a European Ramsar site for its wildlife importance.it would be ace.
unless someone has a better/ different idea???
Can you come to any of these? let us know

nes...go go whalley ranger!
this is me and Pan, currently off the road whilst I build some wheels over xmas hols...
this is what i'm riding at the mo though...
Oh and I made the Fakenger stickers if anyone wants one.
Nasty once called me a dissenger (as i had a go at being a messenger and I thought it was SHITE- no not too much hard work just a bit boring, the pay was shite, the gut i was working for wasn't a great boss and the office girls were well rude, not in a good way. I'm sure it can be a great job if those factors are taken away. Think I just had this idealised impression of what it would be...)
...but I didn't know enough of them to make some stickers up..however i do know enough hipsters so if you want a hipster sticker let me know...x x x x
