Ooops... I've never cleaned any of my camelbaks. :S
You're lucky! Mine had some black slime growing in it. I could shit through the eye of a needle for 2 weeks and I lost a lot of weight. Silver lining to that Camelbak I guess :)
I also only ever put water through them. I had a bottle on the downtube on TD, which I put electrolytes in, just to keep the Camelbak scuzz free.

Congrats to Mrs TSK.
Never drink water where there's livestock upstream (everywhere on Exmoor). Sheep and cattle dump a lot of Cryptosporidium into the water course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptosporidium
Get a Sawyer filter, or some tablets next time.

So, Braunton 150 is ticked off the list. Brutal route, rough, and climb after climb, almost all in bottom gear. Descents are bloody brilliant and the route as a whole is really beautiful. Took 27 hours. Liam Glen got round without stopping in 18.5 hours. He did win Highland Trail race last year, he's a machine.

Here's my setup (had a camelbak too)

Yeah, do some, super fun. Pretty harsh physically, but always worth it.
Both Braunton 150 and HTR 550 will have neutralised starts, riding the first hill or similar together, then taking a moment to remember Mike. He's also #1 on the HTR start list, as he was supposed to be racing it this year :(

I'm doing the Braunton 150 this Friday as a readiness test for my knee. If all goes well, I'm on for the Highland Trail Race end of May.

Interesting read frank. The roads sound horrible. Australia isn't, and never really has been on my list of places to visit, and given that I love cycling, it now is definitely not.
I particularly liked this observation
The attitude contrasted with that typical in Britain, where doing something more energetic than riding to the pub is widely considered a form of madness.

Similarly, I use milton sterilising fluid, soak it in the sink with half a cap of that in cold water for 30 mins, then I leave it in the freezer between uses. I sterilise it a few times a year.
