You're lucky! Mine had some black slime growing in it. I could shit through the eye of a needle for 2 weeks and I lost a lot of weight. Silver lining to that Camelbak I guess :)

I also only ever put water through them. I had a bottle on the downtube on TD, which I put electrolytes in, just to keep the Camelbak scuzz free.

Yeah. The trails are brutal, but really are some of best in the southwest. I rode with two mates who both did the Highland Trail last year in 4 days + something hours. They said Braunton 150 was more brutal, it think mainly because of the relentless climbing, followed by fast, bumpy descents.

So, Braunton 150 is ticked off the list. Brutal route, rough, and climb after climb, almost all in bottom gear. Descents are bloody brilliant and the route as a whole is really beautiful. Took 27 hours. Liam Glen got round without stopping in 18.5 hours. He did win Highland Trail race last year, he's a machine.

Sure, I'll get some pics with it all set up at some point as I'll be doing some training rides with all the kit. Probably gonna run flat pedals for it too, given that there's so much hike-a-bike and generally unclipping required, and that's likely to stress my knee injury.

I'm doing the Braunton 150 this Friday as a readiness test for my knee. If all goes well, I'm on for the Highland Trail Race end of May.

I wish I'd known about this after Tour Divide. I had numb hands for at least 2 months. Considering I was on carbon jones bars and 2.4 tyres, I can't imagine how people ride TD on cross bikes!

Interesting read frank. The roads sound horrible. Australia isn't, and never really has been on my list of places to visit, and given that I love cycling, it now is definitely not.

Yeah, ease of navigation. I'm sure he has a very high tolerance for shit drivers, I know I couldn't be doing it day in day out. I don't even like B roads, and ideally the surface is mud. Not much use for round the world records though is it.

If he followed the coast down here, he would have taken much better roads, he stuck to the horrible A3052. Single lane, windy and packed with grockles over the holidays.
