I just found out my lift has fallen through, which is sort of a blessing - wouldn't get any rest on a Friday night trip over, then half five pickup to the start.
Am planning on riding 260k just for the sake of it. If anyone is bored (and wants to get even more bored), feel free to join me for 2 laps of the Hell of The Ashdown course and back to London.

Anyone fancy a spin tomorrow morning? The park will be chocka, but I'm feeling sociable and I wrecked my legs yesterday so could do with a polite couple of laps and a coffee.
- Mike those dates are c*cked up, flip the New and Full over - a 'new' moon is the point it begins to get bigger after a going through a cycle.

Yep, red bike w. mudguards, heading down Titsey. I thought you looked quite serene gliding down, but was surprised to see another fixed rider! Apologies for not sticking it in the Spotted thread.
I, like you, came a cropper on Titsey a few years back, the indignity was soul-crushing and made me determined to master it. A few years on and l'm 'comfortable' with this cruel mistress. It's ok, just power up and over the first 'kick' and keep going. And going. And going. And sprint for the roundabout at the top. I know it's not healthy, but hell, what is these days?
Well that's your challenge for the summer set then eh?

- Tommy, I think I saw you yesterday coming down, early afternoon? I was headed up on 48/16...
I started my loop by heading down Chalk Pit lane (thanks to BMMF's suggestion earlier in this thread) to check it out, it's flipping awesome. Will build up the self-loathing and inner-hate to tackle it in the next week. It looks not only b@stard-hard, but consistently-b@stard-Bruce-Lee-hard.
Think I saw BMMF earlier as well on a sportif out towards Chiddingstone, Rollapalooza team kit?

Dulwichrider, thanks for the heads up on the cull/closing times, I've been caught out by this before.
It can be hit and miss - no pun intended - as to what time the gates are locked, sometimes not at all even when the cull signs are up. Will keep in touch re. Tues eve, I could chip off work early and come to join you.

- sorry for being a bit daft - I know HH is on tomorrow and the memorial ride - but is anyone headed to RP tomorrow morning? I'm not up for anything mental, but might head over for a few easy laps and a flapjack if anyone else is?
BMMF - RP night rides? I'll be out this Wed for the full moon, probably about 7.30+ On a clear night you don't need headlights, just a flashing led to warn the joggers. No need for the silver bullets either.

The Toupe will last if you're not putting it under duress and thrashing round London's famous London potholes, fully laden with bag and lock. Despite Sp's good customer service and warranty, I'd go for something more durable for day to day use.
The one on my commute/training bike currently has a broken wing, third one to go that way, I'll be replacing with the Avatar.

Hi all,
love to come for a spin tomorrow, but unless I can slip un-noticed for 4 hours and return with breakfast in bed and a bottle of champagne I'm not going to make it. Oh, hold on... 10.30 you say...
Mike, it's been plenty chilly recently! Keep them knees covered even if you don't feel it - Kneewarmers, legwarmers - take it easy. I ride 48/16 and now you're all getting me worried.
-
I think it's the only ride I'll get during the week so figured I'd give it a go. It was a pleasantly testing evening, roll on summer.
With the nicer weather I'm up for Saturday morning ...but a young lady I'm courting might say otherwise. I'm away Wed/Thurs, so will catch up with you folks on Friday for the latest.
-
To continue my full-moon rides, I threw caution to the force 8 wind, and went for a very quick, short lap last night. Ho-hum, I think they call it character building. Here's hoping it'll be clearer next month.
Corny, I cruised past the South drinks on my way back to New Cross but alas, in my be-draggled state I was in more in need of a pint of hot tea than Guiness. Next time sir!

brrrr... a chilly start, a pleasant few laps and then the sun broke through, a nice morning in all. A pleasure riding with you all, will look forward to more of the same,
For anyone interested, I've been out every full moon for the last few months in RP, the next one is this coming Monday (9th). I'll put a post in rides and races when I get a moment - and I'll post re. Swain's Lane, Monday eve's as well.
Cheers all, enjoy your weekends!

Well done everyone!
Lovely to see old friends - and meet new acquaintances - spiffing weather, great route, surprisingly nice police, some fantastic overheard snippets of conversation ("it's like a nightmare out of a Smiths video" and "I recently made a delightful picallili. Turned out a real treat"), the stunning bikes on show, and not to mention the marvellous standard of dress; the bar has been set high for the next(?!) event.
It's a rare - and uplifting - moment when you see an immaculately turned-out olive tweedster glide past on a HHSB rocking an arrospoke.
A memorable day, Chapeau to Teddy for organising - and the sponsors, marshals, and staff at the venues!
Now, hands up who's keeping the mutton chops or 'tache for work tomorrow?...

Duh, just been out riding thinking about your trip Bump, and we've all totally forgotten advice about riding efficiently in a group.
If you take turns on the front, learn to draft, use hand signals as well as shouting whats going on when you're leading, you can get up a good load of momentum and blast along. Head out to Richmond Park for a few laps and concentrate on keeping a steady pace and communicating. Hope this helps also
- Specialized shoes go up to 48 I think (12.5+?), and are reliable, good value, easy to come by etc.

No no, on the day of the sportif, 4th April just to prove to myself I could do it. Will probably be out on Wednesday morning, and next weekend if you wanted to get some miles in.
Not panicking are you?
