passed a chap at Old St roundabout at 8:30 on a very new-looking purple T J Quick frame, white deep-v's - nice colour scheme, also riding with a girl on a fixie too. Said "nice bike" as i passed but would anybody know who he is?

Hey, I'd like to come down if that's alright. Alas the war office (aka the girlfriend) will only grant me a couple of hours leave which prob means missing polo, but this event should not be missed I reckon. Where is the cafe exactly, is it smack in the middle of the park?

Ah, well I found the folly of my teenage years was my innocence, and perhaps now a few years on, I am a bit more cynical and certainly wiser, but in way 'jaded' - I'll leave that unpleasant trait for grumpy old men!

Yeah it does, I read Candide during my A-Levels and I associated myself, at that time, with his innocence and naivety, and have subsequently always used that as a username. "The best of all possible worlds............."

Yeah, I had a nice time and will defo come again. I was a tad tired when we got to the polo fields though! Thanks for the comment, which one were you riding man? There were a number of really nice rides man, especially the red, pursuit stylee one, with white velocity rims - I want me one of those!

perhaps, I think it'll just be nice to hopefully meet some nice fellas tom and get a chance to ride with other fixers which, shock horror, I have yet to do. None of my mates cycle, the lazy gits! The only other fixers I meet are at the lights, and striking up conversation is rather difficult and awkward. Have you had the experience of fixers blasting past you, getting as near to you as possible? It's quite unnerving and generally not cool man. Where is the love?!

if your bike has an orange frame and yellow deep v wheels then it is a bit bling, yes. all the more reason to show up i reckon. i don't think anyone minds? i went to polo last week and everyone was very friendly.

well, I do have white deep v wheels, but my frame is a matt black alu dolan track frame. Sometimes, I rue the fact that I went for such a choice of rims! I feel I feel I get looks from messengers too, and feel a bit of fake and a general tool!

Hi there,

I am new to fixed riding, and am a bit nervous about meeting up with the "hardcore" riders. Having read some of the discussions, I am worried about what others will make of me and my ride, as it could be termed a bit "bling" (yes, I bought it from blb!) and I am not in the least well versed in fixed riding, or indeed technically minded. But I love to ride it none-the-less!

What time does the meet at sth ken start? Did i read there will be a convoy from the east to the start point?
