Some merino wool patagonia base layers on sale here http://www.urbanrock.com/products_detail.php?CatId=134&PId=2338
I have never used these particular ones so don't know if they are any good or not but seem a reasonable price.
The shop is very nice and friendly. (Well the one in the castle is I have never been to any others.....) -

I had a pair of these and just didn't get on with them. They are good looking and so easy to clip into but....
My feet did get numb after longer rides, as there is not much support. (They were agony on Dunwich)
The cleats wear stupidly quickly. My first set wore out in about 4 months.
There is quite a lot of play with them up and downwards between your shoe and the pedal which doesn't help with stopping.
When stopping and using a lot of upward pressure on the pedal they have occassionaly released unexpectedly.
i have since swapped to Time ATAC. These are one of the most secure, solid pedals I have ever used and provide a very stable platform to put your weight on, I love them. However I hear what Claus was saying
"But I can see the general issue with buying new clipless: There is hardly any way for serious test rides."So if you can come by my work one day next week I am happy to lend you a set and some newish cleats so you can make your own mind up.
(I ain't going to be using them any time soon.) -
Hello first time caller. This is an issue very close to my heart, I have perfected a technique after years of abuse from motorists. It takes a lot of anger to get me to this point but have found the best way to resolve this kind of thing is to rip the keys out of the ignition and if you are really lucky there will be a drain to chuck them down. Be ready to pedal very very quickly........
Nice, thank you.
