i know that route well. done it several times towards esher. although the times i did them were on very early sundays. not traffic, but for the cars that were there, they were flying at 60+mph. it's crazy along the dual carriageway between tibbets corner and start of kingston hill. outside that, should be fine. as mentioned above, lots of side street alternatives. id go through richmond park

fuji frameset arrived. overall, very happy with it despite the dent on the top tube being a bit bigger than i'd want it to be, but what im not happy with is that the forks arent drilled. and i dont ride brakeless.
can this be drilled? legs are carbon, but the crown looks alloy. what do you think? or should i just swap it for a drilled one?

dude. you sound like me not long ago. bought my wife an old stowaway folder. quiet streets firstly, parks and cycle paths. TdF came along, she really got into it and wanted to have a go on a road bike so i got her one. she loves it.
take it easy at first. start slow and in quiet parts. if you want her to get into commuting with the bike, do several early sunday runs of the route first. experience is the key. she'll enjoy it only when she gets the confidence to ride in traffic. my wife was commuting for a bit...that is until it got too cold and too wet and too dark for her liking
london freewheel is a great day out for cycling newbies
a workmate did a cycle lesson. she liked it. she said it gave her the confidence to ride.

SSSHHH!
well, just wait and see what ill turn up with on the day. all depends on trades, deals, deliveries!
