Has anyone done research as to who is cost effective and good (outside London, south/south west)? I’m starting to but if someone else already has that would be awesome

Yes but ancient and a bit patchy ~80-90% coverage I think. Is that likely to be the best first step?

I’m interested in both the recent convos:

1) house is 4° and loses heat like a sieve
2) putting insulation into the cavities

What rough costs have people had for cavity wall insulation - obviously will differ by house size but eg guesstimates for a 3 bed semi, or rough prices per m2?

I am in the process of plugging other leaks and changing the windows

I also investigated extractor fans a lot for my last house. UK though. I decided inline fans in the loft were the way to go. Bigger capacity, quieter from the room, can be sound insulated, and can expel in the most convenient direction. if I remember correctly hard (not concertina flex) round (not square) pipes restrict the airflow the least.

I did this in a wall about as thick (poss more, I couldn’t reach my arm through) at my brother’s. I started with a hole saw: failure. I ended with multiple SDS holes and then using the SDS with a big chisel head as a breaker, then back to the super long drill bit. It was hard work but eventually I could fit a 125mm pipe through it and the extractor fan transformed the bathroom. Which has a no window and did have a damp problem.

I would find it hard to be so sensible. I would want to not-pay her more than just the £100, and put it towards fixing it. I don’t think she has a leg to stand on that that was performed with reasonable care and skill. Depending on how belligerent she is I think anything up to £300-400 withheld is unlikely to be pursued very seriously.

Not my experience, I just had arguments with a builder covering his arse to protect his profits when his shit tradesmen did shit work.

It presumably is her job to tell you that unless someone else does their job again her job will be shit. So weird. You have to watch everyone like a hawk.

I cycled a very casual 6 days in Tuscany in March [round trip from Pisa, part courtesy of Chat GPT].

We crossed the via francigena multiple times, and I would say in Tuscany at least it isn’t all cycleable - likely to be lots of walking.

I have a wobble board jobby that I don’t use because my Wattbike has wheels on it (so I can move it out of the way of the tv) and the rocker board does not. I want to add retractable wheels, preferably to the edges, so I don’t cut holes in it.

Anyone done it? Anyone know what sort of wheels I’m looking for?
