I took my bike to Amsterdam last weekend in a 2nd hand dhb bag (without wheel pockets). I was a bit worried, but it seems to have been treated with love and care...no extra padding required and they didn't even scuff the bag.

My mate's brand new Pinacle had his crank poking through when it arrived. The bag looked like they'd used it to replace the planes broken landing gear, but his bike was also unscathed.

If your bike's not too expensive, i'd say make sure your insurance is in order, get those fork bracer jobs and chance it like that.

Haven't played ball in London for a couple of years, but just got the all-clear to get back to training (drills etc but no proper game till Feb after ACL reconstruction).

Any of you guys know of any teams in the South Norwood/ Croydon area where I can get back in shape before I dive back in early next year. Local league standard will do me. I need somewhere where they actually run end to end and I won't get rugby tackled by someone who's frustrated about not being able to make lay-ups.

Just seemed to me that they could afford to charge less than my "local" bike shop. Bike Plus in Croydon said they'd only charge me £5. Turned out I didn't need their services in the end, they just pointed out my observation fail and didn't even make me feel like a tw@t.

This is one of those things that, if you don't have a vice, it's better just going to the LBS - they'll have all manor of weird and wonderful tools made just for it and it'll never cost more than a fiver - worth it to keep the knuckles blood free!
