I ride both an overpowered motorbike for city streets ;-P and bikes, moped bods are twats, because they view and use a moped as a bicycle with an engine, and so are careless and unaware of the risks they are taking when they use their moped as such.
I've always wondered why motorbikes/mopeds/scooters couldn't use bus lanes, filtering down the outside of traffic usually involves, me, if the oncoming lane is clear riding in that, just to avoid the possibility of being taken out by someone turning right without indicating, pulling a uie, or generally just moving round an obstacle.
The issues that relate to cycling in town are pretty much the same for being on a motorbike, except you're going faster, and it hurts a lot more when you come off, both physically and financially (especially if you're trying to keep your no claims bonus).
With the explosion of people on two wheels, both motorised and pedal powered, I think opening up the bus lanes to motorbikes isn't necessarily a bad thing, we're road users, vulnerable road users yes, but road users nonetheless and I don't think we should be so quick to get on our high horse about having to share a bus lane with other two wheeled transportation. -
Bank Holiday Monday Bumpity Bump
With the long weekend almost upon us, its once again time to take the South London massive out on a little tour, a little bit of riding, a larger bit of drinking.
Rough plan at this stage is to meet up at the Coach and Horses, for 2pm.
Couple of bevvies, then head up the road to the mansion, as suggested by Snowy, map link below, get a bit of hillage in.

lebowski, GREAT FUCKING IDEA, the end of london to cambridge made the long toil in the sun worthwhile, beers, joke and eye candy.
Just need to make sure that people are honest about which group they join, otherwise they could find themselves spat out the back, and maybe the start times could be 45min intervals, just so there's a big enough gap between the groups. -

We’ve got a forum birthday party, a track day, a growing range of rides, weekly drinks in every corner of this fair city, but we feel what the LFGSS social calendar really needs is a summer LFGSS party and BBQ. With the forum growing so big, so quickly, it feels like the right time to get the Forumengers, together and put faces to forum names so this post is to ask you all whether you actually want to have a party, and if so, what would you like to include in it…
*Our first guess was: *
- *Beer (bit of a no brainer) *
- Barbecue / Jerk Chicken / Veggie & Vegan delights
- Music (we’ll need to rustle up a sound system from one of you)
- Swap Shop – an amateur jumble, clearing out your spares box and replacing it with new bits.
- Anything else?
*Given the summer is going to get busy with rides and whatnot, we’re going for the weekend of the August the 9th / 10th, starting around mid afternoon, going on until 10 ish and then maybe having a post party ride, or move onto another venue which can go on louder and later. *
Snowy_Again (Chris) has just wangled a new office, and it comes with a massive secure garden and not many neighbours, so we seem to have somewhere to hold it (its in SE17, so just a couple of miles south from the river). We’re going to pop down later today to see what its got on offer (grass Pisumo?)
*We reckoned that with a minimal £ contribution from you lot, we could cover the costs and make a healthy contribution to the server / rider fund. *
SO DO YOU WANNA PARTY?
If so, click on the poll buttons above and let us know what else you want to happen.

I'm crushed that I missed this, truly crushed.
The LFGSS ride posse was in full effect. If you haven't been out on a ride yet, this and all the others are an advert for getting on the bike and joining up.
We need details, punctures, accidents, why were a group of women out with just their bras on for clothing.
We the people who missed the ride demand the information, if its not posted I'll catch up on all the news at one of the drinks this week. -

don't worry oddsock, I've completely forgotten your real name, good seeing you out in the hood yesterday, looking forward to seeing you out on one of the rides, possibly secret london this saturday.
Saw two guys at the roundabout at the bottom of chelsea bridge one on a black frame, silver drops, with orange aerospoke on front and orange deep v on rear, might even have had orange tyres as well for the full orangey effect, looked like you were fiddling with the volume on your ipod, other guy was on a black frame, with decals which made me think it was a condor or possibly a lemond, though I'm probably mistaken, with pink deep v's, hope you enjoyed the ride in fellas, twas a beautiful morning
best to change the gear ratio to 49x18, about 70 gear inches, right now you'll be riding about 80 gear inches, others ride that size, but it kind of takes the fun out of it, spin to win, if you lower the gearing you'll be able to learn to skid easier as well.
Other than that put on a front brake, means you won't get the fear coming down the pentonville road, and you can always get a clamp on brake if the fork isn't drilled to take one.
