Yeah, i saw the Wilier before, but discounted it on grounds of Price. however, now the price is creeping up and up... who knows.
Mashton, i really liked your Condor -was that the standard build? you toild me it cost you just under 700. it seemed much lighter than poor old Mouse's heavy, cumbersome 06 model...

yeah, you're right. i'll give it a go. They're really good in that shop, by the way, good experience there today. recommended. shame it's out in the arse end of nowhere.
You can buy the Pearson frame+fork+headset -it's 290, he said. seems like a good price, it's a fucking light frame, very well made.
-
hippy
RPM buy the frame and I'll build the rest up for you in a fucking day.
not for free, mindCan you buy the frame alone? Hangon are you talking about the Condor or the Pearson?
When nimhbus mentions the addition of carbon posts, etc. Why not buy these parts online? You get more choice, bit cheaper and have a spare.
Things like tyres too - just kill the stock ones before buying new ones.
Also, how flexible are Pearson on price? All places will have some flex built into marked prices. I never buy shit like that without haggling. Even if they wont bend on price they would at least throw stuff in free.
Yeah, you're right there. i did wonder what the point was in paying them for the seatpost etc. i guess partly you just want to get the finished article, rather than have a list of bits still to do, but it makes sense.
I'll try a bit of a haggle, but it's harder when they are the only supplier of that bike! can hardly claim i'll go somewhere else, after all!

Todd Flyer is £399 at Cycle Surgery now.
http://www.cyclesurgery.com/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1025621/groupID/7/categoryID/260/v/5f143c79-d0cf-47bc-bebf-c0775cc922ecyeah. you see, it is a fuck sight cheaper, is it not? and for a similarly spec'd bike, from what i can tell.

cheers guys.
well, yeah, i mean i thought the brakes on the Pearson seemed a bit cheap, given the price, and as i say, it's extra for a carbon seatpost etc etc. The flyer is 499 list price, but you can get deals on the net of course, which you can't with the pearson.
Yeah, the Flyer chainline issue is a concern, certainly.
They don't customise the Pearson free, Dogsballs, but because it's a bike shop who are just getting frames made, you can have anything you want on it, but they do charge - a few tweaks and you're well over 600.
There's a REVIEW of the Pearson here -rates it, but does say the wheels are a bit shit.

Pearson Touche or Genesis Flyer.
Been to see both these bikes, and they're both nice. The Pearson i like cos it's a little more different, and because it's light, but with the carbon seatpost and decent tyres, it comes out at 590-600 quid. quite a lot. it's been very well reviewed, though. The frame is beautifully made, it really is.
Is the spec really up to that price, i'm wondering? opinions welcome.
The Flyer -i think i prefer the ride of the steel frame, and it feels good to me, it;s a nice bike. But, you know, it's yet another Flyer. However, i can get it for 432 quid delivered, so quite a price difference.
So, Hippy et al, do you think the Pearson is worth the extra 150 or so quid?

i'm pretty curious to se the 08 range, i tell you that. some new colour choices would be welcome, so di on't end up as a mashton/smith copyist.
