Note: in my map I left out the Barnes bridge and the two Hungerford crossings. This will be corrected on the night and we will end up not crossing the Kew bridge twice.
It is important to start South-North otherwise we end up riding through some dodgy/industrial/major roads past Battersea and Wandsworth bridges.

It has a footpath on 't side.

The route works better if you go South/North first. Check it, five posts up.
Also you are assuming everyone is coming from the north.

Not at all, have ridden 48/16 for eight years - need a greater resistance now I don't ride as many KMs.

BLB is north.

Any hill in London is doable on a 48/16 which I will be switching back to for the Dun-Run.
For my commute I use a 48/13, once you work up steam you fairly fly along.

I had a story like this once:
Sold a complete bike through the ebay, to up North but still in England.
Got the money - spent it.
Two weeks later the guy emailed saying the (boxed)bike still hadn't turned up.
Was a bit sus, waited a few more days until he sent me a really angry email demanding his money back.
Emailed back saying "well mate don't worry, I had the package insured (cost £2.00) so please give me your full name/details so I can forward it to the parcel-force crew.
Emails back the next day, "Oh its just turned-up" - Suddenly.
Insure your valuable ebay shit, Dead-cheap = peice of mind.
