Game 3
Game starts, lights go out, time out is called, game is postponed, Ali Elk sneaks one in. Goal disallowed.
Game restarts, Ali has a million shots on goal in the first two minutes– all of them hitting Oli’s wheels.
DINOSAUR PHIL scores the first goal at 5 minutes. Woop!
And Again! Phil scores at 6 minutes :)
Dinosaurs are two up!!
Jono gets one back at 7'20", and then Ali levels the score at 9'30" on a goal that bounces off the cone!
Ali gets another goal at 11 minutes which was perhaps the scrappiest goal ever.. Lots of balls being shot and saved, 5 players in the D, a cone goes flying, then the ball crosses the line where the cone used to be.
Dinosaurs fight hard to bring it back, but it times out at 3-2 to ELKs.

....the idea of having a team play their games BEFORE the rest of the teams (knowing results of other games can lead to stitch-ups between teams).

Its still January! I haven't seen my team this year. I doubt they've read these threads yet. Maybe Los Conos won't be able to make it. If not, I'd like to form a team. Black Rebel hadn't decided what they were doing until apparently it was too late.

Lets not assume everyone hangs out on the internet all day!

of course we're not - otherwise we should have just taken the league results!!

do the qualifiers as soon as we can - that way people can make travel plans / or make alternative summer plans if they're not going!

On the other hand, there is an argument to be made that (a) the qualies are part of the Euros, and (b) playing (and training) in any tourney is good for all London teams, and for both reasons, we should open the qualies up to anyone who wants to enter (but with a clear deadline for registration).

Even if teams may not have much of a chance to make it through to the final weekend, they should have a chance to play the qualies.

not really. 10-12 games in three weeks is hard.

if we couldn't make the qualifying day, i would be happy to play all teams within the next 2 weeks, playing them back to back if necessary, but asking every other team to be available could be the problem!

i'm going to stop arguing this because I am going to be available, but please bear in mind there are some people who work weekends/shifts and we need to be considerate.

My suggestion would be a similar one-day round-robin qualifier on the date most people can make, but that we give the option to any team who can't make that date to play all other teams within a specified period around that date (2-3 weeks?).

This would be my suggestion too, only if those games could be played in 2-3 weeks.

It would mean the teams who cant make it have to set up c.12 individual games. What if there were some teams who played in the tournament couldn't make themselves available to play those teams? Could they use league results in exceptional circumstances?

In reference to people not being able to make a fixed day for the qualifiers. I think this is kinda silly, The Euros will happen over 2 days, what if you can't get that weekend off?

not at all. if you work weekends/ shifts, you still have a set amount of holiday days.

I think the general consensus is that we should hold a tournament/mini league to determine the best teams to go, but are we taking one step ahead already? I think Iain is trying to say is it necessarily the best teams that should represent London? or do we send new teams? teams that couldn't represent London in Karlshrue? Teams that didn't play last year? A West London team? A team with kids in (emmet?!!) dare i say it but a girls team!.. vote for the 4 teams?

I personally think we should send our top teams determined by a mini league (spread over two fixed weekdays and fixed weekend days?) - we do have time!
