Newhaven Harbour not Newhaven Town for the ferry. I will book this train once I get round to it. Maybe having a ticket booked will help if there are any issues with bikes on the train (there is officially only space for 2 bikes in the bike area, although plenty more space).
I am not booking trains in France as they are so cheap and I'd rather have the flexibility. (*probably ride it anyway)

Oooh, nice move Tom :)
Another tip I was thinking about at the tourney on Sunday is if you are not so hot at track-standing, you will have to rely on leaning on your mallet. Make sure the top of your ski pole is capped or padded, otherwise the palm of your hand will hurt. Fortunately for my 1/2 hour of goal tending I was wearing thick gloves!!
Another - a wheel disc/defender is not necessary, but if you don't have one, make sure you have plenty of spare spokes in the right length.

Girlfriend said that after the VD tourney she'd like to play on saturday... particularly if it's closer to home... so if you don't mind 2 newbies (at what point can I stop calling myself newbie?!) we'll be along... (again babysitter's allowing)
I'll be along on wednesday either way...
If we're playing there on Sat then yes! I think a few of the North players were up for Newington instead of Downham as a one-off Saturday?

I think we probably should have some sort of first aid available at the next tournament, even an informal one like Sunday's.
+1
Also a big bucket of ice would be great (I'm hoping no injuries, but would be good for keeping the beers chilled).
Would have come in handy for Dave H's wrist too.
Heal soon boys :)

So for those of us that don't have a partner (OR BEEN DUMPED BILL!!!!) is it really worth just turning up and hoping to get in?
Aw shucks.
JOL - what happened to Mr Brown - or Tony or Josh cohen?
I reckon the smart move would be to register yourself plus one ASAP and get a place. I'm sure there'll be more people who would love to join in at the last moment... :)

Give an hour to clear customs, or whatever, that's not too long to wait. So long as we find coffee and croissant.
that takes 2 mins.
I'm up for a 4am skinnydip in the sea, followed by a spinny ride round dieppe to warm up, a croissant and a cup of tea*, then the train to Rouen.
*must remember to pack teabags.
Good idea, not only will it be good for the train, it'll be useful for taking the bike neatly into the hotel room instead of leaving it locked up in the hotel carpark.
(We are talking about foldable bike bags which we used for the Eurostar. Bag folded up small enough to carry on back of our rucksacks - only £40 from Decathlon)
