two main types iso / english and italian plus a variety of oddities plus a variety of tpi ( threads per inch ) for each quite a few combinations but most are
British thread, 1" x 24 TPI 26.4
forgive me if this is wrong but sheldons site is quite useful all the numbers and column headers are on his site so the below will make more sense
1" ISO Standard
(25.4 mm) 7/8"(22.2 mm) 26.4 mm 30.2 mm 24 This is the standard 1" size.see

i now have a spare campy record rear and front hub high flange rear low flange front i think i'll be selling so if anyone wants some flange let me know
not NOS but running smooth and slightly pitted should make a good set of polo wheels
and
i think high flange looks the nuts seperates a ordinary looking wheel from an interesting wheel

square taper cranks would allow for more flexibility the octalink limits you to shimano unless you change both crank and bb i think
campy record cranks i always thought they looked a bit old fashioned but the more i see them the more i like second hand ones on ebay come around quite regularly and i think they are good quality
something like this i think would look nice
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAMPAGNOLO-RECORD-170MM-CRANK-SET_W0QQitemZ200109466717QQihZ010QQcategoryZ56197QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemit is a strada but will work for a fixed without any issues crank bolts and chainring 144bcd will sort it all out just the chainline then
