When selling in my old job I would pride myself of getting the original asking price/fee with no discount. Top method was to offer something of little cost but decent value to them, which usually would be something that I would have done anyway for the client.

Negotiating the other way (as a buyer) I use the one and only proven discount methodology- speak like Terry Tibbs from phonejacker until they relent.
