Actually if you're after something less main roady I've just figured out a route out via the back streets of Chislehurst that works quite well. It does go on the crappy cycle track alongside the A20 for a bit, which isn't the most scenic, but it's less hideous than my usual route out towards Farningham/Shoreham way. RideWithGPS seems to be having a hissyfit but will try to map it later.
I have been considering pre-workers, but I'm going to have to get better at getting up early first.

Part of his plans were to build what those scurrilous fuckers estate agents refer to as a "garden room" - I've also heard them referred to as "garden work units" and "summer family rooms". It's basically a brick-built shed that stretches the width of the back of his garden.
I believe that's also known in estate agent speak as a one bedroom house.

Charlie was on BBC London Radio this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02q7mkm#playt=1h17m00s. He says as @hairnetnic says above; people like this should never be behind the wheel - of anything, but particularly a large lorry - ever again.
Yesterday's BBC London (TV) news piece is here in case anyone's interested. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05tb7dy/bbc-london-news-14052015

Every year I get to about October and decide it's cold and I can't be bothered to ride my bike apart from commuting. Then it gets to March and I decide I can't start riding again because I'm really unfit and it'll be awful. Some months later I drag myself out of my self-imposed spiral of self-loathing and misery and go for a ride. Today was the day!
I covered 116 miles of Kent, Surrey and Sussex and did 7955 feet of climbing. It took me an absurdly long time and I nearly didn't make it home before dark, but I did see a baby stoat, and I think I feel better for it. At least, I'll probably feel better for it when I start feeling stuff again. Ow.

Amazing design and very much up for chipping in. But I was considering making a username badge and stitching it over the ladies bit. Would definitely be happier with LLFGSS if not customised to username. But don't want to be difficult etc.

Hi Phil! Yes well remembered. I started working for LCC a few months ago. You're quite right that the website doesn't do a good job of communicating the breadth of what LCC campaigns on. In case of interest here's the latest enews, it has a link to a bit more info on Tower Hamlets' 20mph limit from the local LCC group.

What Oliver said. Very good news.

They did a leaflet campaign to properties in the area (our office in Southwark got one) but obviously that's not that helpful for those cycling through...
They're moving pretty quickly because Boris (understandably) wants it on the ground before the end of his mayoral term next year - works were originally due to start even earlier but were delayed by the extension to the consultation etc.
BBC London Radio have named her as Esther Hartsilver.

At least one person on here knew her.
Utterly devastating. RIP.
