In all seriousness test the think with a multimeter, if you have one, see if it sticks out over 12 volts should be 13.8 (if memory serves me) and not over 14.4 Also if left for a long time maybe the battery needs a top up to last.

Was thinking of stripping and using the frame as a frame swap for a raliegh converted single speed.

Balloon tyres, big apple plus 55 (as samwell?) mentioned would make the bike in to a full on sand/moon bike and therefore perfect for londons shitty roads.
