my humble submission to the folk of the dale.
First bike build, absolutely got high on degreaser and took way too many things apart that didn't need taking apart. I'm hooked, this is problematic.
Bought F+F, best I can tell it's a Y2K R600. found the Coda wheels on ebay. Cannondale went black with all the gubbins around that time, but I wanted silver, so I replaced some components, sanded and polished others (eagle-eyes may spot that I haven't got round to the rear spokes yet). Would have been 105 5500 kit originally, but I got lucky with a bargain DA7700 groupset on the classifieds. -

Update: Colleague at work is a dab hand at welding, and put a blob of stainless in the damaged area. now need to file it back to original shape. I'll use this thread as a log of the repair in case it helps anyone.
Tig welder settings from my colleague:
Think it was about 70 amps, modulated with pedal, pulse on, set to about 40hz. Pulse current 65%, pulse time probably 40-50%. It was stainless rod, probably 316.Also the material did react weird at first, but the second attempt worked.

which thread is stripped? you can repair threads with something called a helicoil (brand name, plenty of cheap ones available too). essentially it comes as a kit that helps you tap a larger thread, then you insert the coil into the larger thread and it makes it back into the original size thread. possibly worth a try?
