Due to a recent purchase, I’m selling a much loved and well-used Planet X Maratona. It’s an excellent and high value build in ready to ride condition. I’ve owned the bike since new (in 2017) and its been regularly serviced and cared for. Full geometry available here.
Despite the huge number of Planet X bikes on the road, I haven’t seen many of this model around and it was only produced for a couple of years. It was my only bike for three years and has toured, been used as a commuter, taken on numerous club rides and dealt with a season of hill climbing. Used exclusively indoors on the trainer since October last year but, as you would expect, there are numerous minor scratches and marks on the frame/components but nothing significant.
Proof of ownership, original paperwork and BikeRegister details are all available.
Collection from Bromley (South East London) or I’m willing to deliver within a five mile radius of BR2.
Sold (reasonable offers considered). Selling as a complete bike.
Some additional information below. Feel free to ask any questions or PM me for specific details.
Mitsubishi HM/IM blend carbon frame (54cm which is a Planet X ‘Large’)
Shimano Ultegra 6800 groupset (172.5 mm cranks)
Vision Team 35 wheelset
BSA (68mm) bottom bracket
Fizik cyrano R5 stem (120mm)
Fizik arione carbon saddle
Fizik bar tape
Planet X own brand seatpost and handlebars (40cm)
Continental ultrasport tyres (25mm)
Elite custom race bottle cages (black stealth)
Internal cable routing (Di2 compatible)
Shimano 105 SPD-SL pedals (these haven’t been removed in five years and I wasn’t able to before taking pictures but someone with the right tools and a bit of patience should be able to – fortunately, the pedals are running excellently with very smooth bearings and cleat engagement) -
Definitely don't let 33s put you off, I did it last year with a group on a pair of gravelking sk 32s and rode a day and a half in the wet - one guy rode 28s but was severely limited by clearance and didn't have access to another bike. Yes, some sections were difficult and a few unpassable for all of us due to rain but a lot of it was extremely enjoyable. As others have mentioned, SDW was tough on the flint-laden descents, as were the overgrown rutted tractor paths on hillsides (mostly in Wiltshire). We took three days and that included an 'easy' day plus a number of mechanicals...have a great time!

Hi, I have a 56cm version of this bike which I am planning to sell very soon - it is slightly big for me at 5'10 so should be a good fit for you. Send me a DM if you are interested before I post a for sale thread in the next week or so. The asking price will be well below your maximum budget.
Unless your ride to work has any significant hills, a single speed is a low maintenance hassle free solution.
Thanks
