Yes I caved and bought a pair of 28mm tanwall Veloflex from the Cycle Clinic while they had them today to avoid FOMO. The pair of Roubaix on my bike have been on for a few years and I had a sudden jolt to make sure I had spares - they're coming apart at the base tape.
Does seem that you'll always get some tubs, but not necessarily your choice of size or sidewall. Thanks for the input - I had a look around and found the Schwalbe's for £28 on eBay:

Rolling resistance is pretty poor for tubs somehow though!

Bumping this thread following a minor panic - noticed a few shops (Merlin in particular) who used to have good stock of tubular tyres now don't. Totally understandable in this day an age, but I have tubular wheels on two bikes and don't want them to be mothballed!
Are you hoarding tyres, or have confidence they will always be available, albeit at a cost or difficulty to get hold of?

Had this exact discussion with a friend and created this rogue's gallery a while back:

Who signs off on this shit?

I tell myself it was, but unlikely! It came with a circular sticker with a 3 on it, so I'm guessing spare bike. Fair few scratches and dings so it's had some use but no idea when or where.
@greeno - 5-arm Campag remains, but 11-speed Chorus, black saddle and tape too. Record 10-speed went on a Merckx Strada - posted earlier in this thread somewhere. Apologies in advance for spamming this thread with modernity and the shite photo quality:

I had a plan to mod some 7900 downtube shifters to 11-speed and run 9000 like on this bike:

However, haven't seen a chainset come up with numbers outside the recall. It would be pretty daft to buy used cranks with serial numbers affected by the recall wouldn't it? Be interested to know what others make of the situation, as it writes off second hand groupsets of that vintage

No problem, thanks for the interest.
@Eejit, no problem. Have a price in mind for all of it so as/when the time comes will give you first dibs.

Bloody lovely refurb. Not sure if it is on your radar, but I found the Argos paint finish quite soft/delicate so perhaps helicopter tape the downtube/fork legs before building up?
