No it was not really. It was nearly 10 years ago though. At the time it cost about £500.00. The kit was nearly £300 and I gave the installer/roofer £200 cash for labour and a couple of odd bits needed. Took him about half a day, he just used ladders.

Well worth it though. We moved two years later, but had no issues with it. You can get lights to install inside too. Was told at the time that Velux were the best ones, although that may have meant ‘easiest’ to install.

Yes. We had a velux one installed in the stairwell at our old house, it was amazing. Incredible amount of light channeled through and really made a difference to the area overall. Would highly recommend. We had a rigid mirrored tube installed.

Not sure. I had a CT scan to evaluate mine. I had a retraction/pocket/collapsed drum, which amounted to a fair bit of damage to the ‘bones’ they attempted the first time to try and reconstruct it, which didn’t go well.

Obviously mine is a kind of worse case scenario. But it is important to get it checked out.

Cholesteatoma will present with symptoms like tinnitus and progressive hearing loss. Definitely best to get checked out. Completely ruined my hearing, so really one not to ignore.

As we are now definitely staying put here. I want to insulate our suspended floors, prior to this, I’d rather have the correct pipe work in place to save the aggro and difficulty in lifting them later on, as once the membranes are down it will be a mega pain. The heatpump will probably have to wait until next year, as solar this year, but I cannot do another year of freezing floors!

The survey is £350.00, which is not deducted from any future install. Has anyone had one and would care to elaborate on the usefulness, essentially I want everything I do in the next year to be future proof.

Really worth going for a Cleva unit if you can spend a little more. Moves a serious amount of air, also handy for drying clothes! I have the non-remote version.

Nah, but often you can tell how good builders are by the workmanship of ‘hidden’ or covered up work. Structurally that will be fine, just would like to understand the thought process, as there’s minimal pride in that. Like you say it will be covered, nothing to worry about in that respect.
