100% but over engineering shit is where the money is ;) Besides the tube would bind before coming free anyway. Unless you forgot to bolt the top in place, then you’ve got bigger problems.
But see my previous post. It’s only going to be your arse that hits the floor anyway.
Oh and keep the utubes coming, that was lovely with a cup of coffee. -
I run mine on a steady light with the brake boost enabled on my commutes as the run time gets me to work and back for a couple of days. I figure that as you say drivers don’t expect a bike to have a brake light so think I’m a moped or a motorcycle, I also have my strada on steady as well. On country lanes I seem to get more respex/room than flashy flashy.

^^^ This. I did 100 mile charity ride with a group of roadies and got called all sorts of names for blasting up every climb and then slowing them down on every drop. After a while I stopped waiting for them at the top and after a few miles more they didn’t pass me again. I was nice and waited at the finish for them coffee in hand. (In reality I only just beat them and grabbed an empty cup from the floor, but shh)

I took the shhh gravel fixed in to work today for the first time. 34mm byway tyres, 19-42 gearing. The ‘road’ to work is awful in places and I just glided in, there are a couple of short, but steep climbs on the way and again the gearing was perfect. But what goes up must come down, a bit of rough used to be concrete track and today Liz shot off like a bullet and hit over 30mph. I was spinning like a loon and could only hit 23mph. No quarter was given and she ribbed me all the way in about having to wait for me. I may change the rear sprocket tonight.

Something else I’ve been up to.
We scored some Nathan bedside cabinets on the bay a while ago to match our sideboard/tv/record player unit for a good price. They needed a good clean and a re-oil, but are in good shape, but not right for what we wanted so.
I got online and bought some hairpin legs and set to it.
I think they’ve come up alright and to get them all matchy matchy a put a set on the tv unit as well.
Nice.
Oh, Boo! says HELLO!! -
You can always put a wedge in between the top of the lever and the bar. TRPs come with one as new, but the end of a soft grip clothes peg works quite well at a push. Obviously moving the lever closer to the bar for easier reach means the pull is less so you need to run the block close to the rim. The amount of people that say their brakes were crap after putting the little drop in spacer on shimano levers is unreal.
