What sort of things are you looking for? As a cycling destination Scotland is world class in all disciplines and Edinburgh is good too, doesn't take long to get out of the city and onto lovely quiet roads/gravel. 45 min drive south you're in the Tweed Valley, the home of Scottish mountain biking.

I can give you some strava/komoot routes etc.

3 days up north doing some new loops to me. Stuff out round Balmoral, Loop out of Dingwall and one out of Aviemore. Only around 35 miles each loop in the pissing rain and occasionally it would clear up. Loved it.

Bit late but I like to big up the Cinturato Velos. Ran the 35's on tour for 4 months/5551 miles with 2 (two) punctures with tubes. .

Prepare for worried phone calls when the connection drops or it says you're in the sea etc.

Its good overall but it can cause more grief than it saves in my experience....until you're upside down in a ditch and it saves you I guess.

Yeah, plan to get rid of it anyway as its a Bonty Line post and has play in it. So, upgrading to a Fox Transfer eventually. Will need to do measuring and I have a 175 drop Transfer in another bike for experimentation. It does seem to have a particularly small amount of insertion for a large frame (Trek Fuel EX9.8 2019).

Not the end of the world at the moment.

Can a dropper post's aluminium base part be cut down?

My seat post needs to go down just a tiny bit but it wont as it has reached a bend in the frame.

EDIT: I've come across the first problem. I need the seat post to go down maybe 4mm but it will not go any further down as the base of the post reaches the bend. Can that part be cut?

After realising that I was rarely doing any mountain biking because dragging my 170 F&R Enduro monster truck up big climbs was a real chore I went on the hunt for a trail bike on Pinkbike and picked this up yesterday. Hope to get out on some big days like old times and rekindle the MTB love that got me cycling in the first place.

I've bought the tools and the bearings....well used 2018 frame and never been done, simple enough or a shitshow in the making?

One of my XTR SPD's developed quite severe play after around a year of use. Shimano's XTR warranty is 3 years BUT I opened it up to see what was wrong (some bearing balls missing at the end of the spindle)...does that mean I've humped the warranty?
