Just having a beer after the first day riding with @tmevans who took me up on the offer of a last-minute trip to Morzine.
A few quick screen grabs from GoPro here

Really? I have been keeping an eye on the weather and it looked decent to me
Just checked again and possibly wet on Tuesday but other than that a bit of light rain a couple of evening's is all.Not like when I went there in 2014 and it was the wettest I've ever seen it. We had a day and a half dry and then it rained solidly from Monday lunchtime to Friday afternoon when we left.
Soggy lowlights of that week here
Fingers crossed

NP. I'm sure there are other similar farms out there that are farther south it's just that I haven't discovered them yet!
I just remembered another great place I stayed although its way off the Calais/Geneva/autoroute des anglais standard route south. It was a B&B just outside Le Mans run by an old English couple who felt like your favourite aunt and uncle. No good for this trip but just shows that there are plenty of great places out there.

Hi Luke,
I've stopped a few times on a similar journey to Morzine in the past. Usual places to stop are Rheims, Troyes or Dijon.
As @Dammit mentioned the Hotel Mercure is a chain hotel and usually nice and clean with a good breakfast. More specifically, places I have stayed are:
- Novotel Reims - bog standard hotel, very central and good for shops and restaurants
- Hotel Ibis, Dijon - bog standard hotel, very central and good for shops and restaurants
- St Quentin Farm Montecouvez - a beautiful farm, great breakfast, friendly owners but way off the beaten track. Fine for 1 night
- Logis des Sources, Troyes - 30 seconds off the autoroute, standard hotel but again in the middle of nowhere on a bastard hot day in the windless centre of France. So of course we went out on the road bikes for an 80km spin and experienced melting tarmac sticking to our tyres. At least the rooms had great air conditioning

thanks for the offer but should be all good. I'm driving down so should have everything I need in the car.
Incidentally, one of our group has just pulled out so if someone is not too far from Epsom and fancies a week in Morzine/PDS I have a space in the car with me and my son and a space in the chalet.
leaving Friday evening 1st July. Eurotunnel from Folkstone & drive overnight arriving circa Saturday lunchtime (2nd July). Ride 6 days, return home Saturday 9th July.
it's a group of ten staying in a chalet at the foot of Super Morzine lift.
How about it @chez_jay?

Like @Dammit I'm off to t'alps next week except that I haven't ridden my MTB since January; two weeks after I had Covid in fact when I struggled around the Surrey Hills for 3 hours and got back to the car to find that Strava showed I had ridden less than 10km.
And so on to last week and I decided to do an evening ride that included sunset on mid-summer's day, whisky, beer and some steep trails.
a few highlights here but this time it was a 40km ride

True although the narrowing of the bike lane from the whole 'car' lane to less than two bikes width doesn't help.
I had to eff at somebody this morning who rode past that pinch point on the road and then joined the bike lane at the next ramp by simply diving onto it from the road without looking while I was coming up fast on the right hand side of the bike lane.
It was only my spidey senses and supreme handling skills that saved us from colliding.
Pretty sure I have it on GoPro. Will post it if I CBA to find it.
Edit: here we go, will see if pics post in the coorect order but I was on RHS of Lane and travelling slower than usual as it was busy up ahead.
You can see matey-boys front wheel beside me, then he goes past outside of the segregated cycle-lane only to dive in once he is past me -

Yes worth it if you want to keep your frame looking good especially for resale.
No if you aren't worried about scrapes and scratches, it's an Mtb after all
