Rode a whole mile round the park and to the coffee shop yesterday, it’s cold as shit.
Did see @launchpadboi tho
Buying a dream custom bike in winter is definitely a form of cuckholdery as you wait for the weather to warm up
@El_Topo there should be, maybe when it’s a little warmer :)

thank you!
it's rakarth flesh base coat (a pinky, purply, brown white), then stippled with screaming skull (sandy white) leaving some of the base coat showing. i use an old brush to get the paint texture.
then it's glazed with skeleton hoard
when it's dry i went back and edge highlighted the sharpest edges with screaming skull
recessed shadeed the deepest panels on the wings and such with agrax
you could push it further by adding a lighter off white to the stippling section, or a light dry brush after the glaze but i wanted it done in an afternoon.
the undercarridge is corvus black (grey black), dry brushed with leadbelcher (gun metal) then a lighter dry brush of bright silver. any heated engine parts i picked out with a off white and then glazed with blue contrast paint. again you could push this with an edge highllight and using a purple; orange glaze with the blue for heat effects.
at its core, base coat, lighter shade stippling, then glaze, i find is a great way to get a readable, quick paint job which has some interest to it. you can also use a sponge to stipple it instead to create something softer
@Eejit haha! average hedonist aeldari drinking and driving

Partner got me a box of shroud runners for Xmas, i don’t like flying bases so made then a regular base with the usual cork and texture paint, a little 2mm wire, still working out the angle to pose it so not drilled and tapped yet
I like how it came out! Done in one evening while watching chainsaw man and witch from mercury
my palette is cleansed now, I’m going to crack on with my orange space marine project. I also received some blooded and some skiitari (was clearly a good girl this year), then while I was in Nottingham for work I bought the sydonian skatros (I love him he’s so goofy). My plan is to paint the skitari in complimenting colours and base them the same as the space marines, then do the blooded in a similar way, hopefully long term build it out to having all of my fave 40K models based and painted in schemes which look like they’re all on the same battlefield.
No interest in playing but a lot in diorama

i would simply put mollymawks and a rear rack on any bike you find in the skip, if you put enough stickers on it, maybe some trinkets, say stuff like "my nan made this before she died it has not left me since" while pointing at a ratty, sodden piece of string hanging from your saddle people will inevitably go:
"lovely bike mate, would love something like that, just something to go to the shops on, ride to the pub, actually get out you know" while the glow of their monitor seers into their skin only slightly dimmer than that of their SAD lamp, sitting in an otherwise dark room, wind battering at the window and a calender on the wall which doesn't even say january yet.
i fully support personally

I thought the idea of Starmer shrinking his wife was just Christmas fun, not sure why anyone’s impassioned about it. (I choose to believe it because it’s funny and harmless, not necessarily because it’s true)
Wrt the green pledges, this article from June spells out pretty well that what matters above all is “labours financial rules”. manager speak for “if economy bad we austerity, if economy good we spend”, which doesn’t really work with green projects but none the less..
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65853872.amp
The latest article nods to this too, but more points to the fact of it being a need to hide it from Tory attack lines, how much water you think that holds I’m sure will vary but they’ve been v keen on using the barometer of “if it annoys anyone remotely left of Neil coyle it’s good, if not change it”
It’s not really inspiring stuff, takes one to huff a lot of anyonebutthetories gas to feel particularly defensive of it and not just ambivalent. But it’s also a classic Starmer Schrödinger policy, will it won’t it, we don’t know till we vote for it, there is so many qualifiers for it he’s never lying or letting us down, how can you defend or be against it as it’s just a vague manifestation of noises, probability and energy in space at the moment etc etc, plays well to the crowd he wants to appeal to.
There ofc, is a monster gap between the tories and the Labour Party, silly to really pretend there isn’t. I do think however, part of being politically engaged is reminding yourself “you’re not on the team” even if you’re wearing the shirt, you can think your company is doing better than others but still remember you’re a worker of it, they’re a business.

should be pointed out this wasn't an autonomous decision by labour or because of its weight, it has come at a shift of american pressure, it's in response to the tories also shifting their line for "a sustainable ceasefire", which is not an immidiate one nor condemnation of israeli states methods, but merely calling for a "2 state solution" once hamas is removed. this has come as ol' joe is feeling his own heat in the upcoming election state side as their current stance on the conflict is out of step with their base in key seats.
it's very novel to think they're making free decisions on foreign policy but they're v much doing what made their current shadow health sec step away from the party during the iraq war, and the only motivator for these people is their own livelyhoods and grip on power so they can maintain the current power projection in a way they deem best for their donors.
i can't see why anyone would not see through this switch in tone, or feel enthused let alone defend it unless they were doggedly ideological over managerialism.
in domestic news, labour spokesperson welcoming, and not condeming, what is essentially section 28 for trans people, and a policy which is in direct contradiction to the equality act.

they obviously go on to talk about winning the election and so forth, i'm sure this is "all bluff to stop the rw press!!" but when combined with their health ministers comments, and that starmer has said, out of pocket really, he doesn't think kids can know they're trans, doesn't exactly make for much comfort to queer people or parents of queer people.
We all know what it’s like with teenage children and I feel very strongly about this… this argument that children can make decisions without the consent of parents is one I just don’t agree with at all,” Starmer told Justine Roberts

Done my first fantasy mini, was fun and a different sort of challenge
I tried using contrast paints, something I found previously I didn't enjoy. I’m still on the fence with them, I don’t think I like how washed out they look, but they serve a purpose. All learning!
I like how the model turned out tho, it was a fun couple of hours and definitely much faster than traditional painting!

Right, this is a thread about painting models, usually anyone who wants to interact with historical model painting is not really the sort of bloke you want to hang about with, even inquisitively (if my local model shop is anything to go by)
It sounds like you want a hearts of iron discord (although they’re not fun guys either)
