BUT you have helped me to make a decision regarding cycling. I won’t be taking this up as a hobby.
Oh no. How will we cope with that loss.
@AFourOSix: I'm really sorry, but essentially doing 'blackface' is something that immediately puts you close to racists and right-wingers, just like that. You might have done something similar in a 'good' spirit, but uh, that does not make the whole thing any less suspect.
Apart from that, the accusations of racism and general cuntitude are not due to one dressup picture.

I've just put a spare front wheel into the new forks and measured the vertical distance (brake hole to middle of rim) - that's pretty much exactly 57mm. Brake pads could be mounted a tiny bit higher, so I'm fairly sure that brake calipers that promise 57mm reach / drop will be adequate.
@sacredhart cheers, as I said, I'll keep you in mind in case I fail to find something in black within a reasonable time frame! :)

Hmm, that might be just a bit too short. Also, I'm a bit confused on how exactly the drop is measured - I've both read 'vertically down from the fork break hole to the middle of the rim' and 'distance from the fork break hole to the middle of the brake pad' (so, diagonally!). That won't be a big difference, but it will make a bit of a difference - also, is that with the break fully 'relaxed', or... ?
Do you know how the drop is measured on the brakes you have? I will put my replacement front wheel into my new (old) fork and try to figure out the exact measurement of what I need myself.

That must be one of the most expensive chainrings out there, no? Not taking into account super rare vintage stuff?
Honestly now, what's the advantage of this? I got a pretty decent Gebhardt chainring off someone in the forum for a tenner - it certainly doesn't look as bling, but... it works?
I mean, this looks like a great piece of kit if you want to spend the money for sure, but for me, the emphasis is on 'looks'.

Hard braking manoeuvre at a zebra crossing as there was a lady going across that had been hidden by a van - no issue, good brake test, bit of back tyre skidding though I do most of my braking with my front brake. Then I slip first time I want to clip in again, and at the same time a lorry going in the opposite direction starts beeping. I'm now clipped in and look up, and there's the driver leaning out of the window... cheering me on? Making fun of me? I think he was thumb-upsing me, but... why? Was it done ironically? Was he making fun of me slipping off the pedal? Was he congratulating me for stopping for a pedestrian? Was he mistaking me for some TV star?
The lorry was going past at a normal city speed, and I was accelerating too, so I only saw him for a split second. This is the type of thing that really is utterly meaningless, but I just want to know, goddammit!

Sorted - thanks anyway to everyone who offered a brake!
