Comparing two non average builds... the average gravel bike isn’t full carbon with a suspension fork and electronic drive...
The average old mtb isn’t going to be titanium or xtr...
But I agree, most mtb trails are fun on less fancy bikes... but fancy bikes are fun...
How many times does that contradict?

We are dreaming, bullitt electric is that dream but £££ and space is lacking...
Biggest BS is we have 2 parking spaces... 1 car only used a few times a week and not allowed to put a secure structure to house said cargo bike... If we could sell the car in favour of a bullitt and store on ones of our spaces we would be set, electric Brompton to commute. Ebullitt/ tandem otherwise

Agreed, off road, any descents and get on the drops. Locked in, loads of brake leverage, it’s ideal. I prefer it to a flat bar for what I ride - the quantocks / triscombe trails, but if I wanted to go faster flat bar would aid this for the steeper stuff
