For sale: Shimano 600 (Ultegra 6400 series) groupset from around 1988 - 1990.

This is the iconic tricolour groupset, very popular, durable and stylish. Love that rear derailleur cage!

Includes:

Crankset 170mm 52/42t
Bottom bracket - English thread, spindle length is approx 130mm (difficult to measure exactly with cranks attached!)
2 Brake levers
4 Brake callipers - see below!
2 downtube shifters
2 pedals with toeclips and straps
Front derailleur
Rear derailleur
Wheels:
Shimano 600 hubs, Mavic Mach 2 CD 2 36h rims, 7 speed cassette 13-24t, Continental Giro 22mm tyres with zero / minimal wear.

The groupset has been used but not heavily. Some wear and cosmetic scratches but all works ok except one of the brake calipers which should be salvageable - see below. Needs a good clean before reinstallation. Some of the chrome parts eg. Brake bolts, toeclips are a bit corroded and probably need to be replaced, but the working parts are all in good condition. Wheels are very lightly used, hardly any braking wear.

£190 for the lot, reasonable offers welcome. I would very much prefer to sell everything together.

That’s almost exactly what happened to me a few weeks ago - NW3, not far from you. Could be the same people. my building has an underground car park with residents only access, but somehow they got in and sawed through the metal bike rack! I had 2 D locks and a Kryptonite chain but the rack was the easiest thing to cut...

Arrived in London from Budapest, very well packaged and excellent communication from @mustang. I can highly recommend as a seller!

They were spares for a bike that was stolen, therefore no longer needed. RRP for Cassettes about £40, chain £15. If anyone wants to take the lot I’m happy to call it £65.

Sadly I have to add to this thread. My Planet X pro carbon commuting bike was stolen from my building’s underground car park (NW3). It was locked with a heavy kryptonite chain and 2 D locks so the thief sawed through the bike rack itself!

Don’t have a picture of my bike but it’s this frame, built with SRAM rival, Shimano wheels and distinctive gold hex bolt skewers and red look Keo pedals.

It’s several years old, overdue a clean, and has VERY worn brake pads, chain and casette and tatty bar tape. Quite pleased I hadn’t got round to changing them!

My effort. Long time reader, first time poster. 1988 Aneto frame, few years old NOS veloce and old fulcrum wheels. Rides really nice. Not the greatest photo, valve stems a bit off 6 o clock, sorry!

It’s been a lot of fun and very educational as a first rebuild project, already looking forward to the next one with a properly nice frame...
