Oiled the hidden sides with some decking oil I had in the garage. Filled and sanded many holes and bits inside . Cut flooring vinyl to size. Fitted window and door handles. Got the measurement wrong on the door so it’s 100mm higher than I wanted it - so everytime I look at it I will hate myself . Made pasta with prawns and courgette. Had a row about everyone else fucking off to walk the cat (don’t ask ) just as the food hit the table. Cleaned up.

Merci ! I’m still undecided on fit out - the back corner is defo the place for sitting as you have views out of both window and door. So if it’s going have some kind of soft seating (currently beanbags) - this precludes a fixed desk along the wall perpendicular to the window. So I just slammed a quick bit of ply across to test a desk under the window. Did feel nice tbh but some glare issues and wouldn’t want a proper monitor infront etc

I often muse on the derision / scepticism of integrity levelled at architects. I know a lot of them and I just don’t see it . In 2023 it’s poorly remunerated as a profession - considering the length of training / hours / overall level of professional responsibility required. People don’t get into it for the money in my experience. Generally it’s smart(ish) kids who are creative and technical and like the idea of making a difference or at least shaping a bit of the near future in some way. Sure there’s the fashion and taste element, the intense competition and big egos - but some ego is a requirement to create present and ultimately sell a design .

Window ironmongery has turned up.
All day doing roof insulation- horrid job compounded by me not thinking through the detail of how to support the ceiling and needing to add blocks to the inside of the rafters and then cut the insulation around them. Foil taped it all up.
Cleared up all the shitty PIR dust, including hoovering the lawn again.Decided to board the ceiling late in the day - but ran out of steam halfway through. Hey ho.
In case anyone is planning something like this - I’m probably at least 20 days of work in at this point . Spread over 3 months. Stopped tracking spending but I expect will be around 1700.

Glass is in without incident - bar me cocking up a measurement for the window sill. So I now have some filling and sanding to do! Seems to open and close okay - I’m not entirely sure is square - true - plumb - whatever - but it is what it is. Work tomorrow but Tuesday will be ceiling )and maybe floor finish) day. Then it will be time for oiling bits and installing ironmongery. Then furniture. Then done. Oh power and light … fuck.
