When it’s fully complete I really need to find someone who can take some nice pictures of it for me.
I also bought a nice old Bernina 830 sewing machine so I can start making bags again. Starting with a front rack bag for this. Plan is to do a forward opening flap in a similar style to the Gramm diamond bag.

One of my favourite details is the @Hulsroy dynamo light crack pipe.

Headset has a little play at the lower bearing that I can’t seem to get rid of (any more pre-load and the steering really binds, any less and there is more play) which leads me to think that the head tube might need facing because of the new paint. Otherwise everything else went together really smooth.
Last jobs that couldn’t be done with limited tool selection are to cut the steerer, get a silver top cap, cut the rack struts, wire up the dynamo lights and fit the chain. Oh and bar tape which snapped midway on both sides during fitting (Condor stuff feels nice but apparently fragile).
Tyres are a little bit shouty but I had them already so they’ll do for now.

For the seatpost @slothy came through with exactly what I was looking for, namely a Ti post with a little offset. I think the frame seat tube had a bit of rust build up so I tried to clean it out with some steel wool on a rod and it helped but the seatpost fit is still pretty tight. Maybe it’ll need to be properly reamed in the future but for now it works.

Next up was a minor battle with the crankset. Seller included both 132mm and 137mm axles but with the former being the old cannondale style with the machined lip on one side. Settled on the 137mm but it needs a lot of spacers on either side. Even with the chainring being a 5mm offset I think the chain line will be too wide though. This could be fixed with a narrower axle because there is still a lot of clearance but I’m also not 100% sold on these cranks for this build.

Poor quality build photos incoming….
It’s taken forever to find the parts I wanted for this build 2nd hand and not being in the same city most of the time hasn’t helped but yesterday I finally got this thing 90% built.
Bottom bracket came free with the crankset and before install I was a little dubious of the colour but I think it actually works nicely

Not much to say about this. It’s a high quality alloy BB for press fit 30 shells. It has a thread together design that does a great job of eliminating creaking. It’s for GXP cranks and had approximately 1000kms of use. I think £35 is fair, it’s in York at the moment but postage is possible.
Send me a PM if you’re interested.

Yeh my excitement was substantially curtailed when I realised it’s not possible to use more than €25 worth of points on a single order. I had a dream of getting a frame pump for ludicrously cheap but you’re right they’re wise to it. However, it is still possible to use a voucher (from points) equal to the entire value of the order. For example, order a sadddle bag for €21 and you
will only pay the postage. -
I’m a 170mm guy but I’m also curious about 165mm, let me know!
