I'm looking for a wheel set; Mavics Kysrium seem to come with quick release can you simple just remove it to make way for the through axel or do I need something in addition? Or a through axel specific wheel??

So I've opted for the Canyon Ultimate, Stage Race Blue. Frame only In a rather convoluted way. Also keen to build on my mechanical knowledge.

Well it was my first "proper bike" rode it to Paris, then the following summer to Rome.
You are right it's entry level and a good few years old. I'm very torn.
My alternatives are a Black Inc Caad with traditional brakes or a Canyon Ultimate with discs.
All would be built to save a little money, spread costs and make it what I'm after.

So in a moment of genius or madness, I'm thinking about buying back my first road bike; a 2010 Trek 1.2. Stripping it and building it with some better parts and in a truly bonkers moment finish with a custom paint job. This would be my first ever build and I'm a total novice at the mechanical side of things

This is amazing I keep debating a second hand Supersix and getting a custom paint job.

Only downside for me is only one ring on the front.

My cycling hopes are, weekend socials, the odd tri, the odd long endurance type thing.
Thing against Canyon is no finance option. Love the stage blue on the disc Ultimate.

I know a one bike to rule all is like chasing your shadow but I potentially have the budget to spend maybe up to 2k but I'll be strictly limited to one bike so need to spend wisely!
I really want a bike I'll love over anything else. As both my previous bikes were large compromises.
