The more I think about it, the more I believe that the Kremlin drone 'attack' was a Russian false flag operation.
- It was a really weak attempt, it didn't do any damage.
- It reinforces the Putin narrative about Russia being under attack at home, being the victim, so justifying and preparing the population for further mobilisation.
- Considering the timing, it prepared the PR ground for what they knew was going to be a small Victory Day parade today, so they could say 'security concerns' as the reason for it being smaller and not impressive.
- It was a really weak attempt, it didn't do any damage.

I think it might have been 450 at one point. Either way it's £380 (+delivery) brand new on Bikecomponents.de

Also worth throwing into the pot here is that many people just flatly hate and fear cycles, whatever you're doing. Just physically being near is enough, there's not much you can do about that, however nicely you're riding.
Same thing with gangs of youths in hoodies, they may not be doing anything wrong but the presence is enough for some people to call the police.

Done both.
Gavia is a very beautiful climb, where you end up above the snow level, riding along a road cut into the snow, through an old glacier at the top, its awesome and quite challenging.
Mortirolo is for masochists. It's insane how truly ridiculous the unrelenting gradients are. There are no views to speak of, its all very steep switchbacks in tree line on a narrow slippy road, leading to a concrete path at the top. If you're carrying luggage you'd better have very, very, low gearing. It's not as enjoyable or rewarding but I guess everyone has to do it once to make every climb look easy in comparison.

It’s a smaller regional SW train, so no need to book. But it’s the usual “there is only x space so the train guard reserves the right to blar blar”. Ie you’ll be fine so long as you’re not travelling peak time during the Poole regatta.
Generally speaking, in the UK it’s the formal mainline long distance trains you need to book, smaller regional commuter trains are casual with the usual disclaimer.

I'm unsure how useful the Council route will be, don't they usually set up a microphone to confirm the intrusive noise level? If so, will foot steps really be enough to trigger it? (not downplaying the annoyance.)
