But Garmin/Fitbit for fitness stuff and charge it once a week or twice every 3.
Phone for actual usable screen real estate stuff.
Headphones for voice assistant, no screen stuff.I kind of feel the same about mobiles these days. I'd happily drop 30% peak processor performance , reduce ram and storage for an extra half day of battery.

Because time, petrol, car insurance, lack of funds in bank acruing interest. Also customer wants a fucking tap and trader did the donkey work of getting it and wtf that should be a zero cost service?

I've had two batches of wood flooring turn up banana shaped. The fitters have been over 4 times and the flooring company are doing the graft to get me a decent batch of flooring. I still don't have a floor.I hope they charged a markup on the materials as it's been a shit job for them so far.

this is assuming the quote includes an hourly rate, maybe its a "labour" line item in which case charging % for admin of part procurement is slightly clearer.
The alternative is they up the hourly/day/labor rate or cost. It doesn't really matter as the quote will be the quote.
Maybe the answer is to add an admin line to the quote, and a pension contribution line, holiday and sick pay lines, insuramce, travel, vehicle upkeep, training contribution.

Is the bike chain 5,9,10,12 speed, some weird SRAM spec?
You are also paying for the knowledge and experience of the staff to choose the right part based on the system(bike), that should have a cost.
People know bikes here but could you choose the right valve to replace a damaged in a CH system?
Just because a punter has the internet doesnt mean they will source the right part (done it myself when I thought I could fix things myself then ended up paying for a plumber and the correct part anyway) skills knowledge and experience have a cost.

Sounds like the venerable call out fee.
My usual punter based routine is: do I have a trade I trust to do the work based on previous, if so message and book them, pay bill.
If not get Recommendations from friends/family then quotes and if I'm happy to pay what they are asking then boom I'll book.
Having a rage about how the quote/invoice is broken down seems churlish. I pay the whole bill not just parts of it.
