yea i've been riding the g-one speed since it was the s-one (in 30mm, 35mm, and 650bx50mm) and have never had a non-sealing puncture. more 200000 km on 'em.

the new shimano mw7 is nice. runs a bit large. a hair larger than the last gen mw5s they replaced.

lol. i was quoted $200 to install some veloduo 650b fenders by a shop in seattle. did take me most of a day to do it myself though...

i mean it is bourgeoisie but it is hard to argue that it isn't functional. lights, mudguards, a big 'ole bag, low gears.

i do like the workin' man vibe though, so some aversion to fancy functional bikes is appropriate imo.

yea roadmachine i would say is the closest that exists to this. that is also what i am going for. i'd really love it if the tcr or tarmac had them. so it goes. caad13 ok but prefer to have a sloped top tube for balanced toptube sitting.

yea i feel like that was the norm for gravel bikes circa '15/16.

one thing i will say in favor of the compact frame is that it makes super-tuck much better. probably faster and also it is more comfortable.

yea that is true. it is their endurance frame really though. it is as heavy as most gravel bikes and has the same clearance as the first gen versions. that is what i ride in the winter now (a jamis renegade elite), but it is like 9.5kg w/ guards, cages, pedals, etc. figure the domane would be about the same.

eh i don't think so. depends on where you live though. it is just so consistently damp here that i wish i could have a warp speed bike just with the one caveat of mudguards. like i'd kill for a tarmac disc with hidden mounts. i think you'd be more right with the older race bikes with tight clearances. but the ultimate, tarmac, even aeroad, foil, etc. all fit 30+mm tires now, so you could clear a 28 or 25 i figure with a guard in there w/o having to increase frame clearance.

really is a shame there isn't a modern road race frame with actual mudguard mounts
