I was waiting for this response.
It is often pondered about how to get more women involved in cycling. Women can enter events like the Ride100, just like men. What's their problem?
The problem is that there is a near constant low-level noise that you have to not only be good but be amazing and better than the best men to participate in cycling. Most women just assume that it's not for them and don't start or go off and do something that they are stereotyped to believe that they can do.
Why not give a woman the chance to beat the 'soft ' time of 2.38.1. Maybe the next batch of women who build their own weight weenie machines will push under 2 mins and even closer to the men's time. You'll never know unless you encourage people to take part by making it seem possible and feasible in the first place.

This is for the climbers.
You can win a set of wheels if you can beat the time set by the fastest man up this climb.
I've tweeted to ask Hunt why they aren't offering a challenge that a woman might consider such as trying to beat the fastest ever woman's time on the Catford Hill Climb but they haven't got back to me.

Mint Surly Straggler with a front rack near Tenderden somewhere yesterday around 3pm. @Amey shouted DAS but you were heading off in the other direction and didn't hear.
On here?

I need some mudguard flaps. I’ve thought about this a lot and I’m going for plastic ones. They’re going on 50mm GBs.
I found some that are mainly black and much like the Raw ones. They are £9 but now lost the link (doh).
The other option is topflaps.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m happy to drill the guards to fit them and I’d like them on the inside to look neat.

It's great that you've found a good mechanic that is able to do the work and talk to you in a professional way.
Your story rings true to my ears. I've had so many problems getting proper service from bike shops. A long list of stories. I hate to say it but I think a lot of it comes down to sexism. I do all my own mechanics now. Not everyone has the luxury of time to learn properly how to do things.

Amazing to get through that alone. Amey and I were going to miss the cut off and got picked up by a couple on a tandem at the final checkpoint. They invited us to sit in their slip stream to tempo through the last stage and make it in time.
It was a fun three hours but hurt like hell. So thankful that they swept us up.
I received this email on 9 October.
