Yes, it's too small for me at 5ft8.5 with long legs, unless I wanted a really aggressive fit. I imagine your partner would ride a very small (e.g. 15 inch) modern MTB, but with the horizontal top tube, shorter forks and short headtube of a 90s bike, you would want to size up to get comfortable. Worth checking her cycling inseam - floor to crotch . The standover height on this would be about 70cm, with 26x2.0 tyres. That's a guesstimate based on common BB height for 90s mtbs, plus 18 inches, minus 1 inch as the seat post extends above the top tube for the clamp.

Hey all,
I just posted this question in general bike chat as was re-directed here:
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/362166/#comment15919465Basic question is that I've ordered an ML6 (only model in stock) and want to make sure the bars will be high enough. I need them to be 1-2 inches above saddle height, with saddle at 70.5cm from BB centre.
Can anyone with a post-2017 M-type Brompton check this and let me know what the saddle/bar drop is like at my saddle height?
Cheers,
SB

Hi,
Just ordered a Brompton – I cycle to appointments for work city-wide but hip and back issues mean using public transport more and more, so wanting to combine the two. Also more convenient for visiting family on train.
But – I had just assumed the bars could be swapped out to tweak fit and hadn’t thought much about the implications on cable length, folding, etc.
I also didn’t realise the ‘H’ type model comes with a taller stem/steerer too.
For a commuter, I need the grips to be at least level with, preferably 1-2 inches above saddle height, to prevent further hip/back damage. I know some people will have their opinions on this – this is the only way I can ride without 48 hours of subsequent pain and I am having to move on several of my more sporty bikes. I’m trying to put off car use as long as I can.
So, I ordered the ‘M’ type model and am hoping someone with the same model can check the saddle-bar drop at my saddle height (70.5cm BB centre to saddle top). This would need to be a post-2017 model.
To be fair, it seems like the 'M' type model is the only one in stock anyway. A swap down the line to the H stem/steerer seems possible, but it looks like only authorised dealers can do it, which is frustrating, being an experienced former shop mechanic.
Thanks in advance!

I have 2x Genesis Equilibrium framesets for sale in the classifieds. One with carbon fork, one with steel. Current Genesis geo size Small: 542mm top tube.
Great bikes. I've replaced them with one the same in a medium as I need more bar height and may need to use flat bars due to bad hip.
Takes 28mm tyres with guards easy (I managed some that measured 30mm) and 30mm plus without. Use long drop brakes (TRP or Shimano).
Weigh about 1860g, which is light for steel. Comparable to. Condor Fratello.
Check out my a listing and PM if interested.
There's also a Cotic Escapade in Small if you want something disc and more gravelly.

I have a Cotic Escapade for sale in the classifieds. Cotic size Small. 538mm top tube. Full carbon fork, Cane Creek headset. Flat mount.
It's been probably my favourite frame of the several I've owned over the last few years. So much so that I've ordered a new one in the next size up as I can't ride with as much drop to bars due to gammy hip and back. Takes 700x38-40s or 650b x47.
Frame is about 1900g, which is lightish for steel. Most common steel gravel models are over 2kg.
With a set of wide, supple tyres it's as fast as what I used to call my summer road bike, because you don't need to stop pedalling every time the road surface goes crappy.

I have 2x Genesis Equilibrium framesets for sale in the classifieds and a Cotic Escapade frameset. Both 'small' in their brand sizing but at the larger end of small if you were surveying all brands. Cotic is 538mm top tube, Genesis(s) are 542mm I think. Both have stack in the 560s, reach in the 370s.

Will include a period-appropriate long (12cm ish) + 17degree quill stem too (25.4 bars) for £2.50 extra.
